Senior Payroll Specialist

Job Title: Sr. Payroll Specialist

Job Description

As a Sr. Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for processing payroll for companies and providing backup support to the team. You will handle various payroll functions including registering new tax accounts, reconciling payroll reports, and processing Certified Payroll Reports. You will also research and resolve tax notices, set up and audit wage attachments, and provide information to Finance for audit purposes. This role requires working with confidential data, and may involve working more than 40 hours per week based on company needs.

Responsibilities

Process payroll for companies and provide backup support to the team.Post WennSoft Payroll Posting daily.Register for new tax accounts.Reconcile quarter-end and year-end payroll reports.Process Certified Payroll Reports weekly.Research and resolve tax notices.Set up and audit wage attachments.Provide information to Finance for audit purposes.Handle confidential data with care.Provide backup to the Director of Payroll.Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Excel, Word, and Adobe.Good understanding of payroll calculations and regulations.Ability to learn and master company ERP system.Knowledge of Employee/Employer Federal, State, and Local taxes.Attention to detail.Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.FPC or CPP certification preferred.Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in payroll for a large multi-state company.Dayforce experience preferred.Experience with Certified Payroll Reporting.

Work Environment

This is an exempt position that may require working more than 40 hours per week based on company needs. The role involves working with confidential data and requires the ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sparks Glencoe, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $38.46/hr.
