As **Senior Patent Attorney Biology/Biotech** , you will be a key leader within the Global Biologics Patent team of Sanofi's Global Intellectual Property Department. Based in Gentilly, in France, you will drive strategic patent protection for a diverse range of high-priority programs across Sanofi's global business units in the biologics area. You will provide expert counsel on complex intellectual property matters, including patent preparation and prosecution, worldwide patent portfolio management, IP strategy development, patentability assessments, and sophisticated freedom-to-operate analyses and pre-litigation strategies. **Main responsibilities:** + Lead strategic interactions with senior clients (including Research & Development, platform and project management, Business Development) in Europe and the US to provide expert counselling and proactively identify valuable invention opportunities + Develop and implement comprehensive IP strategies aligned with business objectives and provide strategic guidance to senior management + Oversee the preparation, filing and prosecution of EPO, US and foreign patent applications in biologics area, ensuring highest quality standards and aliging wih our internal best ptractices + Deliver authoritative patentability evaluations for critical internal or external projects + Direct and analyze complex searches and provide advices on freedom-to-operate, validity, non-infringement and design-around of third-party patents + Lead post grant proceedings, such as oppositions, representing Sanofi's interests + Take a leadership role in drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements covering intellectual property rights + Provide strategic guidance on proposed research papers and other publications to optimize patent protection + Build and maintain strategic networks within Sanofi's Biologics Business Units and Global IP group, serving as a key liaison between departments **_About you_** **Education and professional Experience:** + Graduate degree (Master, PhD) in a biological or biochemistry science + European Patent Attorney qualification is mandatory with at least 5+ years post-EQE experience + National Patent Attorney qualification would be a plus + Minimum 10+ years of patent law experience gained in-house or in a law firm + Extensive experience in handling complex biologics IP matters, such as antibodies, peptides, and/or nucleic acids, and demonstrated expertise in biologics platform activities is mandatory + Proven track record in successfully handling EPO oppositions and appeals is strongly desired **Skills:** + A strategic thinker with demonstrated leadership abilities who can drive innovation and mentor junior team members + Expert in independently handling complex drafting and prosecution of patent applications + Outstanding communication skills with proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and work effectively with global cross-functional teams **Languages:** + Fluency in English required; fluency in French highly desirable **Pursue** **_Progress_** **.** **Discover** **_Extraordinary_** Progress doesn’t happen without people – people from different backgrounds, in different locations, doing different roles, all united by one thing: a desire to make miracles happen.
