Leidos is looking for a Senior Paralegal to join our Washington, DC team.
Primary Responsibilities:
Works under the direction of Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor.
Performs the following moderately complex tasks while complying with established procedures: Compiles, prepares, and summarizes relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents.
Performs moderately complex legal research; synopsizes transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use; reviews case related materials and, for example, identifies potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation; writes preliminary drafts of simple legal memoranda and correspondence.
Summarizes depositions and other transcripts.
Document acquisition related tasks Maintains detailed index of case files.
Conducts simple to moderately complex database searches; performs simple legal research; indexes, tracks and controls document discovery (including documents produced and received in discovery); indexes, tracks and exhibits and other materials at depositions and at trial.
Prepares exhibit cross-references. Assists attorneys in courtroom.
Other tasks include compilation of documents for FOIA, production requests, Congressional inquiries, etc.
Required Qualifications:
Requires paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one (1) year of study, or four (4) years of legal training or experience or equivalency level may be substituted. Additionally at least two (2) years of litigation paralegal experience or project experience (as related to the task order) is required.
At least one year of experience in automated litigation support.
Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.
Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of and experience with Bluebook citations is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with the Microsoft suite, including Excel and Word, as well as Adobe Acrobat is essential.
Experience with Relativity, valued.
Strong analytic, organizational, and writing skills are preferred.
Trial experience helpful.
Active Public Trust Clearance preferred.
This position is covered under the Service Contract Act and is subject to minimum requirements. Leidos ensures that all provisions are satisfied. The pay for this position will be $31.69/hr.
