Senior Nuclear Licensing Engineer (TVA)
Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a Tier 1 vendor for the Tennessee Valley Authority, and we are recruiting for a, Senior Nuclear Licensing Engineer, for an 12-month contract assignment supporting all three TVA Nuclear Plants.  

This hybrid position to support License Renewal/Subsequent License Renewal for the TVA Nuclear fleet.  We are interested in Nuclear, Mechanical or Civil Engineers that have very good writing skills.  These positions will be responsible for producing many written documents.
  Target start date:  09/01/25 Target W2 Pay Rate:  $83.50/hour (time and a half for overtime) Duration:  12 months Work Status:  Hybrid  
RESPONSIBILITIES: SERVES AS THE PRIMARY PLANT CONTACT OR EXPERT FOR ASSIGNED NSSS SYSTEMS. PROVIDES TECHNICAL INTERPRETATIONS OF DESIGN REQUIREMENTS AS THEY APPLY TO THE MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF NSSS SYSTEMS. PROVIDES ENGINEERING RECOMMENDATIONS AND ALTERNATIVES FOR SOLVING OPERATIONAL PROBLEMS INVOLVING SYSTEM AND COMPONENT PERFORMANCE. DEVELOP SOLUTIONS AND ENGINEERING OPTIONS TO SUPPORT SAFE, RELIABLE, AND EFFICIENT SYSTEM OPERATION. DEVELOPS AND PERFORMS TESTS TO DEMONSTRATE THAT DESIGN REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS ARE MET FOR MODIFIED SYSTEMS. PERFORMS WORK THAT INVOLVES CONVENTIONAL SYSTEMS ENGINEERING PRACTICE BUT MAY INCLUDE A VARIETY OF COMPLEX FEATURES SUCH AS CONFLICTING DESIGN REQUIREMENTS AND DIFFICULT COORDINATION REQUIREMENTS. CONDUCTS WORK REQUIRING JUDGMENT IN THE INDEPENDENT EVALUATION, SELECTION, AND ADAPTATION OF STANDARD PROBLEM-SOLVING TECHNIQUES AND THE APPLICATION OF SYSTEM PROCEDURES AND CRITERIA. DEVISES NEW APPROACHES TO PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED. TECHNICALLY SUPERVISES, COORDINATES, AND REVIEWS THE WORK OF A SMALL STAFF OF SYSTEM ENGINEERS AND TECHNICIANS. ESTIMATES PERSONNEL NEEDS AND SCHEDULES, AND ASSIGNS WORK TO MEET COMPLETION DATES.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear, Mechanical or Civil Engineering required. 10+ years of nuclear power plant experience involving nuclear plant design, construction, operation, licensing, safety, or quality assurance. 8+ years’ nuclear licensing experience. 5+ years’ License Renewal/Subsequent License Renewal application development. 5+ years’ experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity is desirable. Senior Reactor Operator/STA certification of license is desirable. Work requires a broad knowledge of system precedents and performance as well as an extensive knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics. Must have problem analysis and decision-making skills Good organization and planning skills to effectively manage diverse tasks and projects. Excellent communication skills to be able to express complex ideas succinctly and clearly using different perspectives, as needed. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
