Senior Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE)

Rite-Solutions, Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to support in a mostly remote capacity, travel required for rare on-site meetings (roughly once per month). This position is contingent upon contract award.\n

Job Description:\n

At Rite-Solutions, you'll play a key role in driving innovation in naval systems engineering. We're currently supporting a transformative project within the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), where we're leveraging MBSE to modernize and refactor some of the Navy's most complex software combat systems. This project is critical to the Navy's shift from monolithic, legacy software architectures to more flexible, scalable systems. You'll also be part of a team that values innovation and collaboration. In this role, you'll lead the development of interconnected system and software architecture models that will guide code refactoring and modernization decisions. By utilizing automation tools like MagicDraw's Code Engineering toolset and AI-powered model generation capabilities, you'll help streamline the process, reduce time and cost, and ensure that software developers have timely, accurate models to inform their work.\n

Primary Responsibilities:\n\nLead the creation of comprehensive models to represent both the legacy and modernized software architectures.\nLeverage automation tools to reduce time and cost in generating models.\nGuide the Navy in transitioning from legacy systems to more agile, scalable architectures.\nCollaborate closely with the Director of Digital Engineering and key government stakeholders to ensure project success and seamless adoption of MBSE practices.\nProvide thought leadership in MBSE, educating stakeholders on model-driven development and how to interpret SysML and UML diagrams.\n\n

You will apply your MBSE experience to create interconnected software architecture and system architecture models that enable efficient and rapid software refactoring for the Navy's most critical software combat systems. Responsibilities include developing the project plan, leading implementation of the plan with a team of modelers, leveraging automation to auto-generate SysML and UML models, validating SysML and UML models for correctness and adherence to the respective modeling language, connecting SysML and UML models, creating views and automation scripts that support impact analyses, leading adoption of MBSE for model-driven software development.\n

Requirements\/Skills:\n\n5+ years of applicable Systems Engineering experience (2 years may be supplemented with a Masters of Science in Systems Engineering or a related technical field).\nBachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering or a related technical field.\nExpert knowledge of Cameo Systems Modeler and MagicDraw Code Engineering toolset.\nComprehensive understanding of SysML and UML with at least 5 years of experience building SysML and UML models in Cameo Systems Modeler (or MagicDraw).\nUnderstand how to connect SysML and UML models.\nProven track record of implementing MBSE in DoD software systems-experience with combat systems is a plus.\nExceptional soft skills, with the ability to communicate complex MBSE topics to non-technical government stakeholders and clearly articulate the benefits of MBSE.\nAbility to start an MBSE project from scratch, including developing a project plan, growing a team, leading execution of the project plan.\nDeep understanding of Modular Open System Architectures (MOSA) and how MBSE supports MOSA frameworks.\nProficient in Jira and Confluence for project management and collaboration.\nU.S. citizenship and an active DoD secret security clearance\n\n

Additional Skills of Interest (not required):\n\nOCSMP Model User, or higher, certification.\nINCOSE CSEP or ESEP certification.\nExperience applying Agile principles to MBSE and model development\nExperience applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to auto-generate MBSE models.\nExperience modeling Naval combat systems.\n\n
