As a US Senior Medical Director – Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on patients’ lives suffering from chronic kidney disease, and hyperkalemia.

The Senior Medical Director – Chronic Kidney Disease leads a team to shape product and disease area strategy, provides strategic direction for evidence generation, education and publication, and engages extensively externally to further the scientific leadership of AZ.  It is a key scientific role that reports directly to the VP Medical – CVRM, within the BioPharmaceuticals Business Unit’s US Medical CVRM franchise.

What you’ll do:

Leads an effective medical affairs team working in collaboration with field medical teams, commercial and other cross functional teams to ensure successful pre-launch and launch plan and execution for the chronic kidney disease portfolioProvide medical leadership and subject matter expertise for the creation, delivery and evolution of disease area and brand strategies and plansBuild external collaborations (e.g. relationships with KEEs, investigators, scientific associations, digital therapeutics/diagnostics partners) and seek and incorporate external advice to drive strategyEnsure successful execution of the product and disease area confidence activitiesShape and drive strategic publications plans and evidence generation initiativesProvide medical leadership and subject matter expertise for regulatory and labeling interactionsThrough partnership and innovative thinking, anticipate future trends and needs in the marketplace

Essential Requirements:

MD, PhD, or PharmDMedical/clinical/scientific expertise in CVRM 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, ideally in Medical Affairs or relevant years of experience in the Medical / Healthcare fieldStrategic and innovative thinker with executive presenceDemonstrated track record delivering results in a complex matrix environment, building capabilities, and leading large scale impactful medical initiativesProven ability to collaborate and build internal and external networksStrong analytical mind-set and ability to quickly assess large amounts of information and distil into key messages and actionsExperience and/or appreciation of product launches and product life cycle managementPersuasive oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver impactful presentationsProven ability to collaborate with individuals of diverse experience and backgrounds, across varying functions, levels within the company, or external organizations, to effectively deliver on goalsStrong business acumen, familiarity with the US healthcare system, and key regulations in the pharmaceutical industry
