The Mechanical Engineering group in the Shipboard Effectors Department is currently searching for an experienced Mechanical Packaging Design Engineer to work on a multi-discipline team to support design and upgrades of Effector products and subsystems.

This is an onsite role located in Tucson, Az.


What You Will Do

Responsibilities may include concept development, detailed design, analysis, integration and test, support of transition to production efforts, and product improvement.

Candidate will work closely with electrical design engineers in the creation and management of Electronics Assemblies

Candidate will work closely with Integrated Product Team Leads/Program Managers to ensure that engineering requirements are defined, risks are managed, and schedules/budgets are met.

Candidate will ensure Technical Data Packages are maintained and updated as necessary. Decisions must be data driven in nature and require preparing technical justification analysis reports as well as presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.

Communication of technical information by way of presentations and other means

Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.Five years’ experience in mechanical design and design documentation

Experience with 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)

Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5

Experience with the packaging of electronics assemblies

The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written

Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, interconnects, or large assembly development

Proficient in Creo (modeling and drawing) and Windchill (PDM)

Active DoD issued security clearance

Experience working in the aerospace and defense industry.

Advanced degree in Engineering discipline

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
