Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to oversee the planning, design, construction, and commissioning of mechanical systems with a federal client located in Upstate New York.  This role is responsible for ensuring that project delivery aligns with the owner’s objectives, technical requirements, budget, and schedule. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor, coordinating between design consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to protect the owner’s interests throughout all project phases.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Coordination with customers, contractors, designers, and Quality Assurance in order to determine appropriate changes necessary to the contractsMake recommendations to the Contracting Officer and Administrative Contracting Officer for resolution of modifications to contractsAssures that construction is accomplished in accordance with the plans and specificationsBrings any deficiency to the attentions of the contractor and extracts complianceReceives and checks for contract compliance of technical submittals from the contractor, such as shop drawings, catalog cuts, and samplesInvestigates the need for contract change orders including consultations with the designer for design changesTechnical resource may serve as technical advisor for teamProvides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertiseDevelops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by othersParticipates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projectsPerforms quality control review of design calculations or drawingsProvides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS in Engineering + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationU.S. Citizenship requiredMust obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)Must be able to pass a fit test for use of a respirator in various industrial facilities at Watervliet Arsenal

Preferred Requirements

Professional Engineer license10 years’ experience as Mechanical engineer on large complex multimillion dollar DoD construction projects reviewing submittals, contractor questions, RFIs, and construction inspection; experience with Resident Management System (RMS); and Microsoft Office experience
