Coilcraft, Inc., a global manufacturing organization headquartered in Cary, Illinois, is seeking a seasoned Senior Mechanical Designer to join our Engineering Automation Department. This role is intentionally positioned for experienced candidates who can independently lead complex automation projects and guide the full lifecycle of mechanical and machine design. Responsibilities:\n\nLead mechanical design of automation systems, equipment, and tooling, integrating mechanical, pneumatic systems.\nDevelop advanced concepts, layouts, and specifications for new automated equipment and enhancements to existing systems.\nOversee creation of detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability.\nDrive prototype development, evaluate performance, and refine designs for reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.\nManage project timelines, engineering workflows, and cross\u2011functional communication to ensure successful project execution\nConduct detailed design compliance reviews and implement modifications based on test results and production feedback.\nProvide mentorship, technical leadership, and direction to junior designers and project team.\nSupport long-term product and equipment evolution through continuous improvement and lifecycle design updates.\n\n

Requirements:\n\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical\/Design Engineering or equivalent experience.\n5+ years of mechanical design experience within a manufacturing or automation-focused environment.\nDeep expertise with 3D design - SolidWorks is a plus, including assembly design and complex modeling.\nProven experience designing full machines, automation systems, robotics, or integrated production equipment.\nDemonstrated ability to lead projects independently and interface effectively with manufacturing, engineering, and leadership teams.\n\n
