**Key Responsibilities:**
Mechanical Design & Development
Lead the design and development of locking mechanisms, including pin tumbler, wafer, and electronic locks.
Create and manage 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings for lock components and assemblies.
Ensure designs meet functional, security, and durability requirements across various applications.
Structural & Security Integration
Collaborate with structural analysts to evaluate the strength and durability of lock components.
Assess security features to prevent unauthorized access and enhance tamper resistance.
Ensure mechanical integrity under various environmental conditions.
Manufacturing & Assembly Support
Implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles across machined and assembled lock components.
Define tolerances, interfaces, and assembly techniques for complex lock systems.
Support supplier qualification, tooling reviews, and producibility assessments.
Documentation & Compliance
Prepare and release comprehensive technical documentation, including design reports and detailed drawings.
Conduct failure mode assessments and develop risk mitigation plans.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and support certification processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with:
Security experts to integrate advanced features and technologies.
Manufacturing teams optimize production processes and reduce costs.
Quality assurance teams for testing and validation of lock performance.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Explore new technologies such as:
Smart lock integration with IoT capabilities.
Advanced materials for enhanced durability and security.
Apply lessons learned to improve lock designs, reduce complexity, and enhance user experience.
Qualifications:
**Education:**
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required.
Master’s degree preferred, particularly with a focus on security systems or mechanical design.
**Experience:**
7–10 years of experience in the design and development of mechanical lock systems.
Full lifecycle experience from concept through production and field support.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in 3D CAD systems (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD. Creo preferred).
Understanding manufacturing processes and materials for lock components.
Knowledge of security standards and regulatory requirements.
Strong GD&T knowledge and technical drawing preparation.
Preferred:
Experience with electronic and smart lock technologies.
Familiarity with security testing and validation methods.
Knowledge of environmental compliance and sustainability practices.
Personal Attributes:
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities.
Collaborative communicator across disciplines and organizational levels.
Results-driven and proactive, capable of managing complex projects under schedule pressure.
