About the Role

A forward-thinking building services consultancy based in Fareham is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects across sectors such as commercial, residential, education, and healthcare.

You will be responsible for managing mechanical design teams, collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and driving innovative, sustainable solutions from concept through to completion.


Key Responsibilities
Lead the mechanical design and coordination of building services systems including HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, and domestic water servicesPrepare and review detailed design calculations, specifications, technical reports, and drawingsManage project deliverables, timelines, and client communications effectivelyMentor and support junior and intermediate engineers, encouraging technical growthCollaborate closely with electrical, sustainability, and architectural teams to deliver fully integrated MEP designsEnsure compliance with UK building regulations, CIBSE guides, and relevant sustainability standardsAttend and contribute to client meetings, design reviews, and project workshopsSupport business development and continuous improvement initiatives
Candidate Requirements
Degree qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (BEng, MEng, or equivalent)Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership (IMechE, CIBSE, or similar)Minimum 5+ years’ experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy environmentStrong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, heating, ventilation, and controls designProficient in mechanical design software such as Hevacomp, IES, Revit, AutoCAD or similarExcellent communication, leadership, and project management skillsProven ability to manage complex projects and lead design teams
