The Sr. Materials Manager leads our 1 million square foot plant with three businesses (catalog, terminal, coils) with significant direct material spend, while responsible for leading and developing 200 employees in the materials organization alone as a key member of our plant leadership team.
This role coordinates production scheduling, materials planning, materials control, materials strategy, and all materials project initiatives across all focus factories and product growth teams within the facility. This role will function as a key contributor to the lean and continuous improvement initiatives within a plant. The Sr. Materials Manager will set materials strategies and structure for the site. Interacts frequently with internal contacts (such as Sourcing, Engineering, Accounting, Marketing and Quality Assurance teams) to achieve strategic plant goals. Provides support to Global Procurement Commodity Leaders as needed during supplier selection process. Key performance indicators for this position are inventory turns, on-time shipping, and days past due for all products and lines for the site.

Where is the work:
On-site (5 days) at our Columbia, SC facility. This role is considered safety-sensitive.
What you will do:
Primary point of responsibility for materials management, planning strategy, Inventory Control, and material flow for the site.
Ensures optimization of materials management activities including scheduling, purchasing, inventory planning, supplier performance measurement, and indirect materials management, and logistics.
Responsible for the implementation, support and compliance of the Material standards including but not limited to SIOP, PSI, Cycle counting, Inventory planning processes and systems to facilitate flow from order management production planning to material procurement to shipping.
Facilitates interaction with Sourcing, Engineering, Accounting, Marketing, Material operations and Quality Assurance in support of the business’s strategic goals.
Develop and drive countermeasures for underperforming key processes and/or material suppliers.
Manage suppliers, materials and inventory in a manner consistent with the requirements of a Lean Six-Sigma manufacturing environment.
Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and delegating.
Organize activities & assigning jobs accordingly to the staff requirements.
Provide required support to Global Procurement Commodity Leaders as needed during supplier selection process.
Promote APICS certification within the facility.
Develop and implement a professional development program for materials personnel both hourly and salaried.
Drive improved supplier relationships.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What you will bring:
Bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred).
APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred
A minimum of 10 years of experience in the integrated functions of materials management in a manufacturing environment that has embraced lean concepts, MRP manufacturing practices, and progressive supplier relationships.
A minimum of 5 years in managerial experience focusing on standardizing planning & execution, reducing sourcing complexity, and talent development.
Experience with rate-based, flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments.
Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP, scheduling, and lean manufacturing processes.
Experience with visual management systems.
Experience with sequenced or JIT time manufacturing shops
Experience with NPD processes and set-up

Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $125,000-165,000/annually
Additional Compensation: This position will be eligible for our annual incentive/bonus program.
