BRAND/ FUNCTION: Global Product Supply Footwear & Equipment 

LOCATION:  Vietnam / China 

REPORTING TO: Manager Materials Library  

 

ABOUT YOUR ROLE: 

The Senior Materials Librarian plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity, relevance, and strategic value of VF Corporation’s physical materials library. This role is responsible for evaluating all material submissions to determine their uniqueness based on aesthetic, functional, and physical properties. Additionally, the role ensures that all associated metadata is accurate, complete, and properly integrated into VF’s PLM and digital systems to support seamless cross-functional operations. 

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE: 

Include but not limited to 

 

Material Evaluation & Curation 

Assess all proposed materials for inclusion in the physical library, validating that each represents a unique and justifiable addition based on design, function, or innovation. 

Collaborate with design, development, and sourcing teams to understand material intent and application. 

Support the Manager, Materials Library in executing regular library purges to eliminate duplicates and outdated materials. 

Metadata Validation & System Integration 

Review and validate metadata for all approved materials, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with VF’s taxonomy and classification standards. 

Ensure timely and accurate integration of material data into PLM and other digital systems to support downstream processes. 

Partner with digital library and governance teams to maintain alignment between physical and digital material records. 

Governance & Quality Assurance 

Uphold and enforce material governance standards to ensure the library remains a high-quality, curated resource. 

Identify and resolve discrepancies in material records across physical and digital platforms. 

Contribute to the continuous improvement of material evaluation criteria and metadata protocols. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

Act as a subject matter expert for material properties, construction, and sourcing across the organization. 

Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on material selection, uniqueness criteria, and library usage. 

 

WHAT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR IN YOU: 

Strong knowledge of footwear & apparel material, properties, construction and sourcing 

Familiarity with PLM systems and material databases. 

Strong presentation & communication skills 

Understanding of sustainability and circular material strategies. 

Detail orientated, with strong analytical and organizational skills
