Senior Maritime Electrical Manager
Summary Statement The Senior Maritime Electrical Manager leads the electrical engineering team in the design, integration, and delivery of shipboard electrical systems. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of electrical design, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and coordinating closely with production, project management, and other engineering disciplines. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with leadership skills and thrives in a fast-paced shipyard environment. Education/Experience Electrical System Design & Oversight: + Lead the development of electrical system designs, schematics, and layouts for new vessel construction and refit projects. + Review and approve all electrical drawings and documentation for accuracy and compliance. Team Leadership & Coordination: + Supervise and mentor a team of electrical engineers and designers. + Assign tasks, set priorities, and ensure timely completion of deliverables. Project Management & Collaboration: + Coordinate with naval architects, mechanical engineers, and production teams to integrate electrical systems with other shipboard systems. + Participate in project planning, scheduling, and progress reviews. Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance: + Ensure all electrical designs meet ABS, USCG, and other applicable standards. + Oversee quality checks and resolve technical issues during construction and commissioning. Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving: + Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices. + Address design challenges and field discrepancies promptly. Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience). + Minimum 5–7 years of experience in shipyard or maritime electrical engineering, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role. + Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and familiarity with ShipConstructor or similar software. + Strong knowledge of shipboard electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, automation, and communication systems. + Ability to interpret and apply ABS/Coast Guard rules and regulations. + Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
