We’re looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Marine Surveyor to join our growing international team in Shanghai, supporting Sedgwick’s commitment to excellence in marine claims and risk assessment. This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of one of the world’s busiest maritime hubs, where your expertise will help clients navigate complex marine incidents with confidence and clarity.
As a Marine Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for conducting detailed inspections and assessments of MWS and hull and machinery claims. You’ll work closely with insurers, brokers, and clients to deliver accurate, timely reports and provide technical advice that supports fair and efficient claim resolution. Whether you're surveying damaged ships at port or investigating vessel incidents, your calm professionalism and technical insight will be key to restoring trust and protecting commercial interests.
You’ll be part of a collaborative, international team that values precision, integrity, and client service. Our advanced claims management systems and global support network ensure you’re equipped to work efficiently both in the field and remotely. The role involves regular travel across the region, so flexibility and a proactive approach are essential.
You will have/will be:Professional qualifications: Class 1 Masters certificate of competency or significant experience in H&M and MWS projects
Marine expertise: Strong technical knowledge of hull and machinery inspections and MWS projects.
Communication skills: Ability to clearly convey findings and advice to clients, insurers, and stakeholders.
Language proficiency: Fluency in English and Mandarin are highly desirable.
Industry knowledge: Familiarity with international shipping, logistics, and port operations.
Technology proficiency: Comfortable using digital claims management systems and reporting tools.
Self-management: Highly organised, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
Travel readiness: Willingness to travel regularly across China and the Asia-Pacific region.
