About the Role:

The Sr. Manufacturing Test Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated optical and electrical hardware tests. This position requires solid programming and scripting experience with a passion for mechatronics. The Sr. Test Engineer‘s primary customers are Matterport’s manufacturing partners, enabling them to calibrate, test, and process cameras without interruption. This role reports directly to Matterport’s Director of Manufacturing Engineering

This position is in Sunnyvale, CA and is onsite Monday through Friday

What you will do:

Define algorithms and logic for successful and repeatable optical-system calibrationDesign, verify, and validate efficient automated electrical and mechanical testing tools and programsProcess PCBA and camera data, document test results, and provide recommendations to the design and production teamsWork closely with Quality and Hardware Engineering to ensure finished products are meet and exceed quality standardsDevelop, improve, and sustain sensor testing processes through continuous integration, and automated testingWork with overseas suppliers to debug and root-cause failed opto-electrial systems, improving yield and throughputCollaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to streamline test/calibration data managementDesign and implement test fixturing for Manufacturing, Hardware, and Repair operationsProvide design considerations for current and next generation productsDocument all test procedures at both detailed and executive levels

Basic Qualifications:

BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent5+ years of experience in electrical and optical testProven experience creating Python scripts, Shell scripts, and C/C++ programsStrong Linux backgroundIn-depth understanding of Design for Testability (DFT)Experience with various serial protocols such as I2C, I2S, USBExperience with GPS, WiFi, motor controllers, accelerometers a strong plusWorking knowledge of SQL queries and database managementSolidworks/Creo and GD&T experience a strong plusProven ability to work independently with minimal guidance and ability in handling multiple tasksHands-on, detail-oriented, and organizedA cooperative team-balanced approach and self-starting mindsetAbility to travel internationally up to 10%Track record of commitment to prior employers

Pay Transparency:

This position offers an annual OTE pay range from $145,700-$243,100 determined by relevant skills and experience, in addition to uncapped commission opportunities and a generous benefits plan.
