Job Description

Job Title: Senior EHS Manager

Job Location: Hyderabad

Reporting to: General Manager - EHS

Role & Responsibilities 

Purpose: -

This position will develop, implement, maintain and manage environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs at the sites, including conducting lab inspections, site audits, new employee orientation, and regulatory record keeping/reporting, so as to ensure compliance with all legal and corporate requirements. The incumbent to also provide guidance & requisite technical expertise to ensure on-going compliance to all relevant Central, State and local level statutory & non-statutory Environmental, Safety, Health and Regulatory requirements. This position will lead and execute safety, environmental compliance and sustainability efforts.

Responsibilities:

Lead hazard identification & risk assessment for all processes, facilities and operations in Thermo Fisher India, Hyderabad operations.Establish a robust mechanism of walk-through inspections / audits etc. of all facilities and operations, India for proactive identification & redressal of EHS hazards / risks.Periodically assess hygiene and health of EHS system (w.r.t. conformances, statutory /regulatory compliances and adherence to established processes / SOPs etc.).Identify, plan, propose, budget and thereafter implement all EHS infrastructure upgradation plans, as specifically approved (within planned timelines / costs etc.).Identify, evaluate, prevent and control EHS hazards at all sites to ensure legal and corporate compliance. Provide technical knowledge, as required, in the development of EHS controls, programs, and general workplace hazard control strategiesDevelop, implement and maintain a system of inspection and/or audits to monitor EHS performance at all sites.Develop, implement and maintain a system of EHS training for employeesHazardous waste managementChemical and Biological Hazard Management & communicationConduct accident and hazard investigations and recommend corrective actionConduct and prepare the format for periodic EHS inspections and /or site audits.Lead Employee communication, employee involvement and employee engagement schemes to enhance the vibrancy of an EHS culture within the Function.Establish a strong and effective EHS Management framework and system through Identification for need of and leading the development of SOPs, Work Instructions, and Process Manuals etc.Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support Health, Safety and Environmental management.Assist in compliance of applicable laws and regulations to support commercial business

Candidate Requirement:

Education & Experience levels:

Graduate/Postgraduate in any discipline, Diploma in Industrial Safety / DISH certified / alternatePreference over degree in safety engineering, fire safety or Occupational Health or a comparable field; or the equivalent knowledge and experience.Must have experience in chemical / process industriesMust have thorough knowledge of India EHS legislation.Able to work effectively in matrix organization

Nature of experience:

Requires a minimum of 10 to 12 years of experience in an environmental, health, and safety, related discipline and technical/practical knowledge of EHS regulations, codes, and guidelines.With around 4-5 years of supervisory experienceMust have good knowledge of federal and local EHS regulations, including OSHA and ESG.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

 Demonstrated ability to recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for workplace hazards.Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, including the ability to interact with outside regulatory agencies.Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications, including AI, MS office and slide presentations required.Technical and practical knowledge of biotechnology, research and development and/or manufacturing is recommended, or a willingness to quickly become proficient as required. Ability to influence others without authority.Excellent written and oral communications skillsAnticipates needs and problems while creating solutions.Is curious, inquisitive, innovative, never satisfied with the status quo.Has courage and confidence to take risks and learn from mistakes.Inspires, motivates and collaborates with others.The ability to effectively shift priorities and work at a rapid pace is required.
