Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford Proving Ground three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business].
The Role:
The Software Build Factory Integration and Deploy Senior Manager will lead a team responsible for providing software integration and deployment activities for development and delivery of our key embedded control systems. We are a highly capable engineering team that focuses on delivering customer value with safety and quality at top of mind and we always continue to grow, innovate and excel. In this people leader role, you will lead a team of several Engineering Group Managers and develop talent throughout the organization. Your technical leadership will be at the strategic direction level with responsibilities aligned to the foundational pillars of the organization, with focused attention to team deliveries on-time and with quality.
Vehicle Mechatronics Embedded Controls (VMEC) organization is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying the embedded controls and software for all vehicle systems and components that manage vehicle motion, occupant access, position, protection, vision & visibility, and comfort.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
This position will have 3 key areas of focus:
People Leadership
Develop a team that can provide expertise and guidance to identify and resolve software build issues.
Support the development of team members at all levels from entry-level engineers to technical experts and Group Managers through mentoring, coaching, and career development initiatives.
Foster a safety and inclusivity focused environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement.
Foster strong relationships with partners and other organizations to ensure alignment on both technical and strategic objectives.

Execution Leadership
Develop workflow structures for software integration and deploy initiatives centered around embedded control systems.
Enable self-organizing and empowered teams to deliver products on-time with quality execution. Drive discipline to on-time execution thru dealing with ambiguity and strategically pivoting with resiliency.
Set priorities, remove roadblocks, and communicate impacts while supporting agile development principles.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure cross-team alignment on product plans and execution.
Manage and deliver to budget targets for the organization.
Execute resource planning to support required activities.
Guide the team’s knowledge base and direction so common software build errors, corner case situations and other learnings can be retained and shared.
Strategic Leadership
Develop efficiency gains and complexity reduction strategies within the software integration and deploy areas.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to define win-win outcomes for the broader organization.
Provide visionary leadership in the development and execution of embedded control system strategies that are aligned with the GM's vision and strategy.
Champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Increase collaboration with ECU Hardware partners and provide a single avenue to identify HWIO Requirements.
Establish a common communication structure with partners & customers and act as the single point Leadership contact.


Additional Job DescriptionYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
Bachelor of Science in Engineering to include Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mathematics
Minimum 10+ years of engineering experience related to embedded control system, calibration, related hardware, and/or safety critical system development
Demonstrated results in successful project execution
Excellent multi-functional communication and leadership skills - able to get multiple teams moving in the same direction
Demonstrated ability to "Deal with Ambiguity" while driving timely decision making
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Master of Science in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Aerospace, Systems or Software Engineering with emphasis in Control Systems
15+ years of engineering experience related to embedded control system, calibration, related hardware, and/or safety critical system development
Change leadership experience in leading other leaders
Leadership experience developing or utilizing industry standards
Leadership experience in safety compliance of embedded systems
Leadership of teams of engineers responsible for developing or testing embedded control systems or related hardware
Demonstrated ability to achieve results through effective teamwork, lead numerous projects with different focal areas to successful completion, and manage and measure work through metrics, data, and results
Experience managing a global team that is geographically dispersed
Working knowledge of embedded controls development tool set – (e.g. IBM Rational Tool Suite, Jira/Jama, Git ecosystem, MatLab-Simulink, ETAS)
