As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.
Job responsibilities
Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasksBe accountable for decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and proceduresEnsures successful collaboration across teams and stakeholdersLeads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologiesExecutes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problemsDevelops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by othersIdentifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systemsInterpret technical and business objectives, identifying challenges and providing innovative solutions to address themIdentifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessaryProvides input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the teamCreates a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on Software Engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experienceExperience leading teams of technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertiseStrong background in UNIX, Apache Tomcat, Databases Management, and Oracle SQLExperience in writing and maintaining REST / SOAP Based APIsUnderstanding of observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or GrafanaDemonstrated ability to debug complex systems and drive technical discussions independentlyProficiency in automation and continuous delivery methodsAbility to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiativesExperience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talentIn-depth knowledge of the services industry and their IT systemsExperience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Experience in working in a highly regulated environment / industryProven experience in designing distributed applications in Agile environmentExperience with Sanctions Domain and/or familiarity with Sanctions Screening solutions, Pega PRPC workflowsExposure to full software development lifecycle in large-scale systems, preferably within the financial industry
