About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Project Management Lead to oversee and drive strategic PMO operations for our GTMC North America team across three critical business units: Vaccines, General Medicines (GenMeds), and Specialty Care. Based in our Hyderabad hub, this senior leadership role will manage a team of Project Managers and serve as the strategic bridge between North American commercial operations and our India-based delivery hub.
As the Senior Project Management Lead, you will be responsible for establishing PMO excellence, driving portfolio-level governance, and ensuring seamless execution of high-impact commercial initiatives across all three business units. This position requires a strategic thinker who can balance operational excellence with leadership development, while maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders across North America.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Management
Portfolio Oversight: Provide strategic direction and oversight for the entire North America project portfolio across Vaccines, GenMeds, and Specialty Care business units
Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team, fostering their professional growth and ensuring consistent delivery excellence
Strategic Planning: Collaborate with North American commercial leadership to define project priorities, resource allocation strategies, and portfolio roadmaps aligned with business objectives
Cross-BU Synergy: Identify opportunities for synergies, shared learnings, and best practice adoption across the three business units
Capacity Planning: Oversee resource planning and capacity management across all three BUs, optimizing utilization and ensuring balanced workload distribution
Governance & PMO Excellence
PMO Framework Development: Establish and continuously improve PMO standards, methodologies, processes, and governance frameworks tailored to pharmaceutical commercial operations
Quality Assurance: Ensure consistent project delivery quality, adherence to timelines, and budget compliance across all business units
Performance Metrics: Define, track, and report on portfolio-level KPIs, project health metrics, and team performance indicators
Risk & Issue Escalation: Manage portfolio-level risks and issues, providing timely escalation and resolution support to senior leadership
Audit & Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with Sanofi standards, pharmaceutical regulations, and corporate governance requirements
Operational Excellence & Innovation
Process Optimization: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance PMO efficiency, project delivery speed, and stakeholder satisfaction
Tool & Technology Strategy: Evaluate, implement, and optimize project management tools and platforms to support team productivity
Vendor Management: Oversee strategic vendor relationships and third-party partnerships across the portfolio
Knowledge Management: Establish knowledge-sharing mechanisms, lessons learned repositories, and communities of practice
Agile Transformation: Champion agile methodologies and drive adoption of modern project delivery frameworks across the organization
Financial Management
Budget Oversight: Manage consolidated budgets across all three business units, ensuring optimal allocation and financial discipline
Investment Prioritization: Support business case development and ROI analysis for new initiatives
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field; MBA or Master's degree strongly preferred.
12+ years of progressive project/program management experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role managing project management teams
Extensive experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences commercial operations
PMP, PgMP, or PRINCE2 Practitioner certification required
Proven track record of managing large-scale, complex portfolios with budgets exceeding $5M+
Leadership & Management Skills
Demonstrated success in building, leading, and developing high-performing project management teams
Strong coaching and mentoring capabilities with a track record of developing talent
Experience managing teams across multiple time zones and geographies
Ability to influence and drive results without direct authority
Technical & Functional Expertise
Deep understanding of pharmaceutical commercial operations, including marketing, sales operations, and go-to-market strategies
Expert knowledge of project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid)
Advanced proficiency in portfolio management tools (MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet, Clarity, or similar enterprise platforms)
Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management, forecasting, and financial reporting
Experience with digital transformation and technology implementation programs
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with ability to influence C-level executives
Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder landscapes and navigate organizational dynamics
Experience presenting to senior leadership and steering committees
Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively across diverse, global teams
