About Enterprise Architecture:  

Enterprise Architecture is a key enabler of the company’s technology strategy. The four pillars of Enterprise Architecture include: 

Architecture as Code: this pillar owns and operates foundational technologies that are leveraged by engineering teams across the enterprise. 

Architecture as Design: this pillar includes the solution and technical design for transformation programs and business critical projects which need architectural guidance and support. 

Governance: this pillar is responsible for defining technical standards and developing innovative tools that automate controls to ensure compliance. 

Colleague Enablement: this pillar is focused on colleague development, recognition, training, and enterprise outreach.  

  

The Enterprise Open Banking and Federated Authorization team serves as the external source of American Express data and customer driven authorization. The team focuses on empowering customers to have safe, secure, and controlled management of their data. From delivering compliance globally (PSD2, CDR, etc), to contractual delivery on strategic partnerships, we deliver best in class services in a competitive external ecosystem. We power 1000s of applications globally, and look to build subject matter experts who see the big picture of our customers, our data, and how they see AMEX externally

Role Overview / Key Responsibilities:

Platform Strategy & Roadmap 

Define the long-term vision and roadmap for open banking platform capabilities 

Prioritize foundational platform services (e.g., consent management, data normalization, authentication, monitoring) 

Balance short-term business demands with long-term platform scalability and reusability 

Align platform strategy with enterprise architecture and broader data and payments strategies 

Regulatory, Risk & Governance Enablement 

Embed compliance, privacy, and security controls directly into platform design 

Partner with Legal, Risk, Compliance, Privacy, and Security teams to ensure regulatory readiness 

Support audits, regulatory reviews, and risk assessments with clear product artifacts 

API & Platform Product Ownership 

Own the full lifecycle of open banking APIs and shared platform services 

Define API contracts, versioning strategies, documentation standards, and SLAs 

Drive consistency across internal and external API consumers 

Cross-Functional Delivery & Execution 

Partner closely with Engineering, Architecture, Infrastructure, and Data teams 

Translate platform needs into epics, features, and technical requirements 

Manage dependencies across multiple teams and portfolios 

Drive backlog prioritization with a platform-first mindset 

Platform Metrics & Operational Excellence 

Define and track platform KPIs such as API availability, latency, error rates, data freshness, and adoption 

Monitor consent success rates, data quality, and partner performance 

Use metrics to drive continuous platform improvements and investment decisions 

Partner with operations and SRE teams to ensure platform resilience 

 

Core Skills & Experience 

Strong experience in platform or infrastructure product management 

Deep understanding of APIs, distributed systems, and data platforms 

Experience operating in highly regulated enterprise environments 

Ability to navigate complex stakeholder ecosystems and governance models 

Comfort working with ambiguity, scale, and long-term platform trade-offs 

 

Required Qualifications: 

2-5 years' experience in Product Management, strategy, API engineering, or industry data movement. 

Strong understanding of enterprise platforms, API ecosystems, integration architectures, and operating model transformation. 

Experience shaping cross-functional frameworks across Product, Engineering, Operations, and Business units 

Exceptional executive storytelling capability, with a proven ability to translate complex strategies into clear, compelling narratives for senior leadership 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience in industry data sets or standards for B2B information (ANSI X12, FDX, etc.) 

Background in large-scale modernization, persistent capacity models, platform rationalization, or M&A integration a strong plus 

Familiarity with API productization, domain-driven design, merchant and/or B2B partner integration needs, and capability-driven governance models a strong plus 

Experience scaling APIs and creating monetary value from B2B services. 

Salary Range: $123,000.00 to $215,250.00 annually + bonus + benefits
