The AIM (Analytics, Investment & Marketing Enablement) team – a part of GCS Marketing – is the analytical engine that enables the Global Commercial Services portfolio of American Express. About the role

The Senior Manager- Data Analytics will join the Prospect cross-functional team within AIM, leading a team of data scientists to drive advanced analytics initiatives that improve commercial prospecting and acquisition outcomes. Leveraging a broad analytical toolkit—including advanced machine learning, predictive modeling, optimization, and emerging AI techniques - the role oversees end-to-end delivery of scalable solutions that enhance targeting precision, engagement effectiveness, and marketing ROI.

Operating at the intersection of advanced analytics, commercial strategy, and evolving AI capabilities, this role translates data-driven insights into sustainable competitive advantage. The individual will serve as a strategic partner to marketing and product stakeholders, shaping analytical roadmaps and embedding data science into core decision-making processes.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead a team of data scientists and analysts, providing technical and strategic direction, ensuring high-quality delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives.Translate complex business questions into structured analytical and decision-intelligence frameworks, identifying the right mix of statistical techniques, machine learning, and Generative AI approaches (e.g., LLMs, RAG, embeddings) to deliver high-impact solutions.Design, build, and enhance advanced analytical models and GenAI-enabled data products—including predictive modeling, customer/prospect scoring, matching, prioritization, and enrichment capabilities—to strengthen targeting and acquisition strategies.Lead the development and deployment of scalable AI/ML solutions, including NLP and Generative AI applications where relevant, ensuring alignment with business objectives, platform standards, and production-readiness requirements.Apply strong quantitative judgment and technical rigor to evaluate data quality, refine features, enhance models, and ensure analytical methods and pipelines are robust, efficient, and aligned with best practices.Influence and align cross-functional partners by collaborating with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to define Generative AI and analytical use cases, integrate analytical solutions into workflows, and enable effective adoption.Establish and manage experimentation and performance evaluation frameworks for analytical solutions, incorporating testing, monitoring, and continuous improvement aligned with business objectives.Present analytical insights, model performance, trade-offs, and business impact clearly to senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners.Ensure adherence to established model governance and responsible AI guidelines in collaboration with risk and compliance partners.Minimum QualificationsDegree in a quantitative field preferred - such as Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, or Economics.5+ years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, machine learning, decision science, or related quantitative rolesStrong programming skills in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience developing machine-learning and GenAI/NLP models end-to-end.Strong analytical and conceptual problem-solving capability, with a demonstrated ability to translate business needs into structured analytical plans and GenAI/ML solution approaches.Experience designing GenAI solutions with consideration for enterprise platform constraints, including cost efficiency, latency, scalability, and reliability.Maintain strong hands-on involvement in model development and experimentation, supporting iterative improvements and scalable deployment.Excellent executive communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships and deliver clear, compelling insights to senior leaders.Demonstrated experience leading teams in complex, cross-functional environments while maintaining appropriate technical depth to guide solution development.Preferred QualificationExperience working with LLM-based applications, including prompt design and evaluation, is a strong plus.Familiarity with modern ML and AI tooling ecosystems; exposure to Generative AI frameworks and LLM application development is a plus.Understanding of responsible AI, data integrity, model governance and GenAI risk management principles (e.g., explainability, bias/fairness, monitoring, audit readiness) is preferred.
