What you’ll be doing

As an integral member of Simplii Financial Operations team, Senior Manager Business Effectiveness reporting to the Director, Business Effectiveness Simplii Operations, you will be responsible for collaborating with finance teams to forecast operational spend for the fiscal year, overseeing invoice processing and management, and incorporating best financial practices to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and eliminate unnecessary costs.

In addition, this role will leverage process engineering and project management expertise to drive continuous improvement and successful delivery of strategic initiatives. The Senior Manager will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to reduce operational losses, develop the financial and business acumen of their team, and ensure effective management of daily reconciliation, accounting, and reporting functions. Responsibilities also include managing and balancing the Bank’s ledger accounts, including Automated Banking Machines (ABM), Point of Sale (POS), Remote Banking (RB), and 30 other suspense accounts for Simplii.

How you'll succeed

Balance bank functions by managing reconciliation of suspense accounts for RCS, RPS, and Operational Risk units. Resolve outstanding items in suspense accounts and manage daily, monthly, and year-end financial activities, including critical review of journal entries and financial results. Communicate variances and issues proactively, ensuring timely and accurate completion of accounting activities. Collaborate with Finance teams on spend and forecasting for Simplii transits and maintain end-to-end invoice processing and management for Simplii Business.

Lead and support end-to-end project implementation, providing guidance to diverse teams of technology, finance, and project professionals. Manage multiple high-priority projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, scope, timelines, and budgets. Identify project risks and obstacles, developing mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery and provide regular status updates, maintain open communication with stakeholders, and escalate issues as needed. Ensure all project deliverables are received, approved, and aligned with timelines.

Foster a collaborative work environment and assist team members in resolving organizational, operational, and process challenges. Analyze existing business processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. Design and implement streamlined processes to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and optimize operational workflows. Conduct research and root cause analysis, evaluate trade-offs between usability, performance, and business objectives, and create models and “what-if” scenarios to present optimal solutions to management.

Act as a subject matter expert on projects from a financial perspective, identifying potential financial obstacles or risks. Ensure the effectiveness and regular execution of Finance SOX controls, including invoicing and suspense account management, to identify and mitigate risk exposure. Adhere to Records Management procedures for proper storage and archiving of digital documents.

Who You Are

Experience: 3–7 years managing account reconciliation processes, including monthly and quarterly reconciliations, balance sheet accounts, discrepancy investigation, corrective actions, and compliance with internal controls. CPA certification or equivalent would be an asset.

Project Management: 1–2 years leading teams, managing projects, and influencing stakeholders with proven organizational skills and ability to manage multiple high-priority projects. Bold and accountable leader, passionate about developing and growing team capabilities; experience providing coaching and hands-on support to meet team goals.

Process Engineering: Demonstrated experience in process analysis, redesign, and implementation of process improvements in a financial operations environment.

Analytical Skills: Skilled in investigating complex problems, making sense of data, and communicating detailed information meaningfully.
