Manages the business and administrative team, supporting department leadership to ensure efficient execution of strategies in compliance with policies. Supports the success of Insurance and IT&S by achieving individual and team objectives, and ensures all activities follow regulations and internal guidelines.


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

Build strong relationships with business partners, technology partners, stakeholders, 3rd party vendors and their teams, to facilitate collaboration. Partners with senior leadership to define and execute strategic priorities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and long-term vision. Provides thought leadership in developing planning frameworks, performance metrics, and reporting structures that enable decision-making. Oversees preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reports, ensuring insights are actionable and support strategic initiatives. Leads continuous improvement initiatives for US Risk function, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and impact. Develops integrated dashboards and reporting tools to provide real-time visibility into key performance indicators and strategic progress. Provides strategic thought leadership and partners with department leadership to shape and execute business management initiatives that drive organizational effectiveness and long-term value. Produce and document (user stories, story maps, etc.) high level and detailed requirements and process/data flows (as-is, future state) for enhancements and new feature requests for existing applications in Insurance. Drive the creation of responses to intakes and requests for estimates, calling and facilitating meetings with internal and external teams to collect required information as required. Leads the development and implementation of operational strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering continuous improvement across business processes. Oversees budgeting and financial management for the department, ensuring optimal resource allocation and financial discipline. Influences organizational strategy by identifying operational trends and recommending innovative solutions to enhance scalability and resilience. Designs and leads people engagement initiatives, such as team events, recognition programs, and volunteer activities, to strengthen culture and collaboration. Introduces innovative business management practices and tools to enhance operational agility and scalability. Provides guidance on administrative processes, ensuring they enable efficiency, scalability, and alignment with organizational priorities. Oversees preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reports for leadership and internal committees, ensuring insights are actionable and timely. Establishes escalation protocols and communication channels to proactively address issues and maintain operational continuity. Leads continuous improvement initiatives for administrative workflows, leveraging technology and best practices to optimize productivity. Implements standardized administrative frameworks and solutions to streamline processes and improve governance. Leads and drives a collaborative, service-oriented culture within the team to strengthen internal partnerships and leverage broader organizational resources, systems, and knowledge for maximum impact. Understands how organizational priorities and strategic objectives should be embedded in day-to-day activities and decisions, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and values. Creates an environment where the team delivers efficient, high-quality business operations in accordance with the organization’s values and code of conduct, while maintaining strong internal controls and adherence to corporate policies. Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates talent by fostering an inclusive culture, using a coaching mindset, clearly communicating vision and business strategy, and managing succession and development planning. Conduct and manage requirements for Demo sessions with stakeholder teams. Assist as Scrum Master in managing agile delivery/adoption (manage JIRA, Confluence, Kanban, ServiceNow) and participate in agile ceremonies. Provide production and user acceptance testing support to assigned applications by identifying, evaluating, escalating, resolving problems, and supporting other team members. The incumbent may be required to provide after-hours support to ensure systems are operational according to documented user service level agreements.  Support UAT and release management (including post implementation verification). Continually acquire and enhance knowledge of business strategies and policies, risk management practices and methodologies, product offerings, financial markets, financial instruments, regulatory requirements, Back Office processes, and rapidly changing technology to be able to provide effective business solutions and services to the end user business lines on GOCT. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
 

STEM Education, Business Management, or a related field. Master in IT management is an asset. Scrum Master is an asset 5+ years leading and building high performance teams. Experience working in an Agile environment is an asset. Passion for innovation coupled with positive attitude, thirst for knowledge, team oriented, pragmatic. Ability to develop creative, human-centered solutions which balance end-user experience, total cost of ownership, complexity, and speed to market. Strong organizational skills is an asset Strong technical competency is an asset. Strong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key business concepts, and then effectively communicate these concepts with technical staff, business stakeholders and senior management. Subject area experience with Financial Industry products and services preferred: Retail Banking/Lending, Commercial Banking/Lending, Credit Card Processing Subject area experience with Insurance, compliance, and regulatory requirements (such as AML, CASL, OSFI) is an asset. Considerable experience transforming a delivery team to adopt Agile principles and operate in an DevOps environment enabling CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery). Understanding of IT business continuity, cybersecurity, and integrated risk management and optimization methodologies is highly desirable, along with knowledge of IT Business Management.
