STS Technical Services is hiring a Senior Manager Aircraft Systems Engineering in Hebron, Kentucky. This leadership role oversees engineering data, documentation, and technical support to ensure the safety, reliability, and airworthiness of large commercial aircraft.
As a key member of the Technical Operations team, you’ll provide direction to Systems Engineers and Liaison Support teams, manage complex fleet and compliance programs, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs, increase reliability, and support operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities Manage and prioritize Systems Engineering actions across multiple ATA chapters. Lead and mentor engineering staff, developing a high-performing and innovative team. Oversee fleet technical support, AOG/24/7 liaison coverage, and MRO repair documentation. Provide technical and budgetary leadership for heavy maintenance and conversions. Issue instructions and develop documents to support safe, cost-effective aircraft operations. Chair and participate in industry working groups and committees. Liaise with manufacturers, MROs, engineering teams, and regulatory agencies. Manage compliance with FARs, ADs, NPRMs, and other regulatory requirements. Develop and approve data, including AMOCs for repairs, alterations, and modifications. Support fleet integration, including evaluation of repairs, ADs, STCs, and follow-up actions. Oversee reliability programs, continuous improvement processes, and fleet performance analysis. Deliver on-time project execution with strong cost control and operational reliability. Provide leadership to ensure alignment with company goals, safety standards, and regulatory compliance. Major Accountabilities Lead, mentor, and strategically manage Aircraft Systems Engineering staff. Ensure adherence to company objectives, contractual MBOs, and regulatory requirements. Develop and execute long-term strategic plans for innovation, best practices, and process improvements. Manage budgets, resources, and project schedules effectively. Communicate technical concepts clearly to teams, leadership, and stakeholders. Drive fleet reliability improvements and minimize maintenance costs. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Master’s preferred; MBA highly valued). Minimum 15 years of Aircraft Systems Engineering experience, including management. Strong knowledge of widebody aircraft systems and components. Experience interfacing with OEMs, MROs, and regulatory agencies. Demonstrated success building, leading, and developing engineering teams. Financial acumen with the ability to manage department budgets and resources. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Preferred: A&P Certificate, airline/aerospace industry experience. Additional Skills Strong organizational and collaborative leadership style. Ability to evaluate risks, make timely decisions, and deliver results. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and familiarity with M&E and document management systems. Ability to interface effectively with internal teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
