Overview:
We have a 12-month fixed-term contract within the Go-to-Market team, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a critical capability at the heart of the business unit operating model.
This role is a critical linchpin in driving the creation of the best strategies and plans for the business unit while ensuring this is achieved in the most efficient way to hit all the financial, customer and strategic targets. This role drives our Beauty and GM strategies, including Value and Christmas, and plans for the total business. Based in D90 Nottingham, this role combines the best of commercial, marketing and insight to achieve these goals.
About the opportunity:
The Go to Market and Planning team sit centrally within the Customer & Category teams of Boots, reporting into Insights, Strategy & Planning function but playing a critical role across commercial and marketing business units. This Head of GTM role reports to the Director of Strategy and Planning but needs to ensure strong matrix relationships are maintained and developed particularly with the Beauty and General Merchandise Business Unit Directors. Peers and critical stakeholders of this role are across the business unit lead teams (across category trading, marketing, own brand product, supply chain, insights, finance and ecommerce), working alongside the Healthcare & Pharmacy Go to Market business unit lead and the Customer & Commercial Planning team within the wider team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Development of an innovative in-year trade plan which drives meaningful difference for Boots, setting and owning the Scope through to 1-3D process:
o Responsibility to ensure the plan is grounded in insight & data
o Ownership of translation of commercial activity into motivating, innovative and customer-led messages, themes & promotions across all channels (inc. design and development of themes, big customer messages and deals)
o Ownership of brief to other leads (e.g. .com and Marketing) on the plan to execute
o Responsibility to review & respond to changes in context & lead strategic reactive changes to the plan
• Consolidation & communication of campaign performance, market & competitor activity to influence future activity, communicated to the rest of the business
• Ownership for value strategy (Becca sponsor) & embedding of customer & brand strategy
• Manage NPD forum & align innovation blueprint
• External facing with our partner suppliers to integrate key initiatives into the wider trade & marketing plan.
• Reactive plan briefing for strategic choices
• Development of two direct reports, GTM Manager and Asst. GTM Manager.
KPIs:
• Sales revenue growth (hitting forecast) and profit
• Positive brand and customer metrics including Advantage Card
• Customers choose Boots as their Beauty destination all year round (Shopper numbers & Market share)
• Long-term customer value across new and retained groups
Ways of working:
• Lead across a virtual team of Category, Marketing, Finance, Insights, Digital, and Operations specialists
• Inspire the Category directors and Heads of Category to deliver innovative, exciting executions not tried before
• Working with internal stakeholders to gain alignment and agreeing a balanced set of performance metrics.
• Lead the way on creating a culture in which we stay one step ahead of the market.
What you’ll need to have:
• Highly experienced leader (ideally across at least 2 of Commercial, Marketing and Insight, likely at least 1)
• High level, and experience, of commercial acumen
• Strong track record of delivery to targets, through the creation of owned plans and strategies
• Ability to see multiple perspectives (commercial, customer, brand and operational) to drive for the right blended plan and outcome
• Experience of detailed and high value promotional plans (critical for the Value and Christmas elements of this role)
