The Senior Manager – Global Procurement Engine/APU Maintenance will be responsible for capturing real TCO savings in the aircraft engine/APU repair/overhaul services category, either through direct savings captured from aggregating sourcing volumes or savings captured from other TCO cost reduction initiatives, while ensuring that our customersneeds are met. This position seeks year-over-year improvements in total cost of ownership, quality and service by working closely with the Technical Operations division and engine/APU suppliers. The Individual will also lead other Procurement professionals in achieving cost-savings goals through contract negotiations and support. Lead and manage the documentation of new aircraft purchase agreements and amendments to existing purchase agreements
The Senior Manager’s primary responsibility is to manage project-driven sourcing activities for a team consisting of a variety of engines, and APU categories that are characterized by high decision-making complexity and/or high organizational influence.
This position will be responsible for category spend of $500M annually.
Strategy:
Implement the sourcing strategies for the repair and overhaul of United’s aircraft engines and APUs (auxiliary power units), including analysis of current and future needs, analysis of market trends and potential suppliers, and analysis of TCO and opportunities to leverage changes in processes and product/servicesEnsure the effective delivery of corporate initiatives, programs and directives in accordance with United’s sourcing strategy and financial plansAssist in the selection and management of engine suppliers by establishing processes, standards and performance metricsDirectly responsible for a subset of categories, including developing the sourcing strategy, identifying suppliers, and measuring and tracking performance against financial plansOperations:
Ensure compliance with policies and programs in alignment with United’s sourcing strategyDrive the analysis of and review data, including budget/financial and performance metrics to support decisions related to programs, initiatives and directives including the initiation of RFPs to outsource engine overhaul and repair servicesManage business relationships with key suppliers including routine enhancements to agreements, communication of demand/volume changes, updating contracts and sharing end-user feedbackProvide operational support by procuring emergency lease engines and APUs as Technical Operations demands requireResearch, understand and stay current on best practices, trends, legislative issues and market competitiveness informationDevelop and deliver presentations to executives and others, as required on strategies, programs, practices and issuesInteract with Tech Ops, Engineering, Fleet, Legal, and FinanceManagement:
