Main responsibilities:
The Senior Manager, Environmental Risk and Compliance is responsible for leading environmental compliance programs and managing environmental risk across Albertsons Companies’ operational footprint. This role supports regulatory compliance, oversees environmental investigations and remediation, and leads environmental due diligence for real estate transactions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in environmental regulations, site assessments, and remediation strategies, with a strong ability to collaborate across departments and manage external consultants.
Lead environmental compliance programs across retail, fuel, distribution, and manufacturing operations. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations including RCRA, CERCLA, UST, and Clean Water Act. Manage environmental permitting, inspections, audits, and reporting requirements. Direct environmental due diligence for real estate transactions, including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM E1527-21 standards. Coordinate Phase II investigations and evaluate Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs). Oversee soil and groundwater investigations, including sampling, data analysis, and reporting. Manage remediation projects from site characterization through regulatory closure. Serve as primary liaison with environmental consultants and regulatory agencies. Support incident response and corrective action planning for environmental events. Provide technical guidance to internal stakeholders including Legal, Real Estate, Construction, and Operations teams. Supervise environmental staff and manage consultant relationships. Communicate environmental risks and compliance status to senior leadership.The position will be based in Boise, Idaho and Pleasanton ,CA.
We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
Excellent project management and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple complex projects across a geographically diverse portfolio. Proficiency in environmental data systems and GIS tools preferred.
We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in environmental compliance, risk management, and site investigation/remediation. Demonstrated experience with ASTM E1527-21 Phase I ESA standards and environmental due diligence for real estate. Strong working knowledge of EPA regulations and state-specific environmental programs.
Office-based with field visits to stores, fuel centers, distribution centers, and manufacturing plants.
Occasional travel required for site assessments, audits, and regulatory meetings.

The salary range is $102,700 to $143,800 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.
