TITLE: Senior Manager, U.S. Market Risk
DUTIES: The Bank of Nova Scotia seeks a Senior Manager, U.S. Market Risk in New York, NY to contribute to the market risk management of the U.S. Credit Trading, U.S. Structured Credit Trading, and global Convertible Bond & Preferred Share Trading desks within Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets (GBM). Monitor risk against established limits, manage risk limit requests and oversee the resolution of breaches. Ensure timely and accurate risk reporting. Provide effective challenges to businesses during their annual reviews, ensuring that risk management frameworks are robust and followed. Respond to inquiries and provide updates to various U.S. and Canadian regulators including the Federal Reserve/DFS, FINRA, and OSFI. Lead frequent discussions and presentations of materials to these regulators and speak during examinations. Interact with the Regulatory Relations team. Work within the U.S. Market Risk team, and overall U.S. risk management effort including Liquidity Risk, Model Risk, Credit Risk, Operational Risk, and other risk disciplines. Perform risk management efforts for trading desks and products on the floor, including day-to-day activity, prioritization, and project work. Submit data related to the various businesses for which Trade Floor Risk Management (TFRM) provides risk oversight to the various U.S. committees including the U.S. Market and Liquidity Risk Committee (MLRC), the U.S. Management Risk Committee (MRC), and Market Risk Management and Policy Committee (MRMPC) at the global level. Submit data or speak to the market risk impact for various desks and new products at the U.S. New Initiative Assessment (NIA) committee. Work as part of a Global Risk Management team encompassing TFRM, Counterparty Credit Risk, Exposure and Capital Analysis, Market Risk Measurement as well as the individual risk groups within TFRM. Interact with Global Risk Technology, and well as the Data Governance Office. Consider the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in day-to-day activities and decisions. Pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Finance, Business Administration, or related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation: performing risk management reporting duties that involve an in-depth knowledge of risk methodology with respect to a vast range of securities and loans; pulling data from multiple sources into risk calculation engines and producing detailed risk reports with many forms of risk sensitivities; utilizing tools including Excel VBA, Python, and Tableau to perform data collection and risk analysis; utilizing Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications to present data; communicating online with front office, product control, finance, compliance, and audit teams in multiple geographies; presenting risk management findings at local and global committees, and regulators. The offered salary is between $128,211 - $224,700 per year, 40 hours per week. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies. When not telecommuting, must report to work site.
