This role sits at the center of strategy for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s $7B+ Analytical Instruments business, supporting leaders on high-stakes questions that shape priorities, portfolio direction and performance. The Senior Manager brings a strong strategic mindset to ambiguous business problems — applying structured frameworks, rigorous analysis, and outside-in context to turn complexity into clarity.

The role emphasizes executive-ready synthesis and storytelling: connecting market dynamics, business performance, and strategic tradeoffs into clear “so-what” narratives. The role contributes to long-range strategy and planning, while spending most of its time shaping decisions and driving recommendations through structured analysis, sharp synthesis and executive-ready communication.

Operating within a large, matrixed organization, the Senior Manager is a key member of the Strategy team and partners closely with cross-functional leaders and senior executives, navigating complexity with professionalism, sound judgment, and humility. This role offers the opportunity to rapidly learn a dynamic, technology-driven business influenced by evolving market and macroeconomic trends

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:
•    Produce executive-ready strategic briefs that clarify key issues, drivers, and decisions.
•    Synthesize outside-in trends (market shifts, technology evolution, competitor moves) and translate them into practical implications for the business — e.g., risks, whitespace, priority shifts.
•     Conduct operational assessments (launch performance, portfolio analyses, org design options, etc.) to identify improvement opportunities and drive insights.
•    Partner cross-functionally to develop hypotheses, collect data and develop storylines, and ensure alignment before materials reach executives.
•    Develop and manage repeatable deliverables, frameworks, and business rhythms that raise clarity and quality of strategic communication.

Education/Experience:

•    MBA or PhD in relevant scientific field required, plus 3–4+ years post-degree consulting experience at the Manager+ level (or equivalent strategic role in industry) preferred. Bachelor's consideration with 6+ years experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
•   Proven ability to learn rapidly, distill complex problems and produce clear deliverables.
•   Strong analytic foundation and structured problem solving, Willing to roll up their sleeves.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to deliver CEO-caliber materials with precision and judgment. Believes clear, thoughtful communication is a driver of impact.
•    Ability to navigate complex matrixed environments. Demonstrated maturity and humility engaging with cross-functional stakeholders and leaders; strong presence without overstepping governance while building trust. 
•    Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. High attention to detail, strong organization, and consistency under pressure.
•    Seek feedback proactively and maintain a humble, collaborative working style in a high-stakes environment. 

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $143,000.00–$214,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
