About the Role
As an Engineering Manager on the MarTech Engineering team, you will lead the development of marketing technology platforms and tools that power our clients' digital engagement, campaign execution, and customer data strategies. You'll partner closely with product, marketing, and data teams to set technical direction, grow a high-performing engineering team, and deliver scalable MarTech solutions spanning SEO, content management, and web platform engineering. You bring an AI-first mindset to everything you build — actively exploring how emerging technologies can unlock new capabilities, accelerate delivery, and redefine what's possible for our marketing platforms. This is a high-impact leadership role with real ownership over team culture, technical quality, and product outcomes.
Our frontend software is built in ReactJS, our backend services run in Java on Azure, and our content platforms are built on Adobe AEM and WP Engine.
Who You Are
You have 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years managing engineering teams in a MarTech, CMS, or digital experience engineering environment
You have hands-on experience with or strong working knowledge of Adobe AEM, WP Engine (WordPress), and technical SEO principles — enough to credibly lead engineers working across these platforms
You understand the intersection of content management, web performance, and SEO, and know how engineering decisions directly impact search visibility and organic traffic
You bring an AI-first mindset to your leadership and technical decision-making — you're constantly evaluating how AI and machine learning tools can improve team productivity, personalization, content delivery, and SEO performance
You are energized by innovation and stay current with the rapidly evolving MarTech and AI landscape, bringing new ideas and emerging technologies to your team before the industry catches up
You are proficient in the English language, both written and verbal, sufficient for success in a remote and largely asynchronous work environment
You are self-motivated and self-managing, with strong organizational and prioritization skills
You're confident leading teams through ambiguity and enjoy translating high-level marketing and business goals into concrete engineering plans
You champion engineering best practices — test-driven development, continuous deployment, and thoughtful monitoring — and hold your team to a high bar
You are comfortable operating in a highly agile, iterative development environment
You lead with empathy, transparency, and a strong bias toward inclusion and psychological safety
You have excellent stakeholder communication skills and can regularly align engineering, marketing, and SEO partners around a shared vision
You thrive in a fully remote organization and know how to keep distributed teams engaged and connected
You have a demonstrated ability to build strong cross-functional relationships across content, SEO, analytics, and marketing teams
What You'll Do
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of full-stack engineers building and maintaining MarTech platforms including Adobe AEM, WP Engine-hosted properties, and SEO tooling and infrastructure
Champion an AI-first culture on the team — identifying and piloting opportunities to integrate AI into content workflows, SEO automation, personalization engines, and developer tooling to drive outsized impact
Own the technical strategy for content delivery and web platform engineering, ensuring our CMS platforms are scalable, performant, and optimized for search
Partner with SEO strategists and content teams to implement technical SEO best practices — site architecture, Core Web Vitals, structured data, crawlability, and page performance — at the platform level
Drive innovation by creating space for experimentation, prototyping emerging AI and MarTech tools, and building a team culture where bold ideas are encouraged and tested rapidly
Drive architectural decisions for AEM and WordPress environments, including component development, authoring experience, integrations, and deployment pipelines
Own the team's roadmap in partnership with product and marketing stakeholders, balancing new feature delivery with platform reliability and technical debt
Set and uphold engineering standards for code quality, security, performance, and maintainability across your team's systems
Remove blockers and create the conditions for your engineers to do their best work — shielding the team from noise while keeping them connected to business context
Represent the MarTech Engineering team in cross-functional planning, leadership forums, and external stakeholder conversations
Proactively identify and address technical debt and systemic inefficiencies across AEM, WP Engine, and SEO tooling that slow the team down
Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation, encouraging engineers to experiment with new tools, contribute to the broader MarTech community, and push the boundaries of what marketing technology can do
