The Senior Manager, Underwriting Quality leads a team of Underwriters who review Monthly Pre-Fund and Post Close quality results. This role is also responsible for reviewing and curing loan level quality errors across the underwriting function. In addition to managing an underwriting team, the Quality Underwriting Manager II is a subject's matter expert in processing, closing, or underwriting processes. Works closely with capital markets, participates in process implementation of new guidelines, new processes required by new regulations, participates in internal and external audits, and is actively engaged in the Issue Management Framework process.
Depth & Scope:
Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions as required
Responsible for supervising a team of underwriters who review Pre-fund and Post-close quality results for the Home Lending Underwriting Team
Provides a detailed quality analysis and identify training opportunities
Provides performance management recommendations to the underwriting managers and senior underwriting management
Prepares a monthly quality summary for Senior Underwriting Management
Addresses quality trends and coordinate credit training for Home Lending underwriters
Reviews quality findings and partners with processing and sales to obtain additional documentation or rationale to cure errors
After loans are fixed, communicates resolution to the Pre- Fund and Post Close teams
Demonstrates sound judgment conveying departmental policies and procedures
Attends staff meetings and individual one on one monthly meetings with underwriters
Provides exceptional customer service, congruent with WOW! Philosophies to customers, vendors and other institutions
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or work experience equivalent to Bachelor's degree required
10+ years of mortgage underwriting related experience
Experience managing underwriting quality is preferred
In-depth knowledge and understanding of bank operations, department policies, procedures, products, services, systems, underwriting guidelines, and applications
Proven ability to interact with all TD Bank and departmental customers.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent PC skills and familiarity with standard office equipment
Detail-oriented and self-motivated
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing remediation of unsalable transactions reported by TD Bank Government and Private investors or internal Quality partners
Experience processing, underwriting, or the closing processes. The role performs research and provides responses to internal and external audit requests, provides resolution to regulatory/nonregulatory action plans, and performs process audits to ensure the business line is operating according to TD Bank Home Loans standards.
Underwrites complex residential mortgage loans and evaluates risk while ensuring the quality of each loan submitted
