Senior Manager, Product Quality & Safety

As the Senior Manager, Product Quality & Safety, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our products consistently meet the highest standards for quality, safety, and compliance across multiple categories. By leading cross-functional teams and implementing robust programs, you will protect our brand reputation, minimize risk, and strengthen customer trust—driving Staples’ commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and compliant products.

What you’ll be doing:

Overseeing the design, implementation, and monitoring of product quality assurance and safety programs.Developing and enforcing policies that ensure products meet regulatory requirements and company specifications.Leading root cause analysis and driving corrective/preventive actions for product failures, safety incidents, or recalls.Collaborating with Sourcing, Product Engineering, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Operations, and Legal to resolve product quality and safety challenges.Establishing and reporting key performance metrics for quality and safety to senior leadership.Managing product and vendor performance reviews to ensure ongoing quality adherence.Benchmarking industry best practices and recommending process improvements.Championing continuous improvement and adapting to changing regulatory and consumer requirements.Preparing and delivering quality and safety reports and executive presentations.Serving as company lead during product recall situations when required.

What you bring to the table:

Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to resolve complex product quality and safety issues.High level of accountability, integrity, and attention to detail.Ability to influence and align cross-functional partners without direct authority.Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.Demonstrated results-driven approach and commitment to continuous improvement.Experience managing corrective/preventive action programs and product recall communications.Working knowledge of federal and state product safety regulations (CPSC, FDA, OSHA, etc.).

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs, or related field.8+ years of experience in product quality, compliance, or safety within manufacturing, retail, or consumer goods.At least 3+ years of management experience leading teams of professionals or managers.Track record of implementing quality and safety initiatives and CAPA programs.

What’s needed - Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related discipline.Professional certifications such as Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE).Experience managing international suppliers and compliance across global regulatory frameworks.Proficiency with quality management systems (QMS) and ERP software (SAP, Oracle).Strong experience leading product recall management and communication.
