The Senior Manager of Product Management (individual contributor) will play a key role in the strategy, development and execution of Move Money and Payment offerings. These include a broad set of payment mechanisms such as ACH, Wire Transfers, Instant Payments, BillPay, Debit Cards, Credit Cards, P2P, and Internal Transfers.
These capabilities span Schwab’s legal entities (e.g., bank and broker-dealer), lines of business (Investor Services and Advisor Services), and delivery channels including Schwab.com, Mobile App, Schwab Advisor Center, phone, and representative platforms. This role will partner across the firm to design, deliver, and continuously enhance a comprehensive client experience. The Product Manager will drive growth, optimize performance, and ensure offer alignment with revenue goals, risk management, and overall business value.
This position requires strong cross-functional collaboration, influencing skills, and the ability to navigate a dynamic regulatory and payments environment. The ideal candidate will combine experience in product management and payments with a strategic vision and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Own product strategy and execution for assigned payments and money movement capabilities, including identifying enhancements that close gaps, improve efficiency, mitigate risk, and drive client adoption.Define and maintain a clear product roadmap by working closely with Investor Services, Advisor Services, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Technology partners.Translate complex business needs and client insights into clear product requirements, epics, and features, guiding delivery teams through the product development lifecycle.Drive prioritization decisions across competing initiatives by evaluating client impact, regulatory considerations, operational complexity, and business value.Partner with Risk, Legal, and Compliance to proactively identify and manage product risk and ensure adherence to regulatory obligations.Develop a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, client needs, and current-state gaps to inform product vision, client journeys, and business cases.Support and help manage strategic third-party vendor relationships related to payments and money movement capabilities.Champion client-centric thinking and continuous improvement across cross-functional teams without direct authority.Drive performance and insights: Establish key metrics, analyze data, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership for decision-making.Serve as subject matter expert: Act as an internal authority on digital currencies and blockchain, fostering organizational knowledge.Collaborate for success: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. What you have Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience5+ years of experience in a Product Management role 5+ years of relevant experience in financial services, with specific expertise in payments and/or money movement products or platformsStrong command of the product development lifecycle and agile practices, with a track record of delivering client-centric outcomesAbility to operate independently, make informed decisions, and navigate ambiguity in a complex, regulated environmentExperience synthesizing quantitative and qualitative data to understand client needs and inform product strategy and designDemonstrated ability to influence cross-functional partners and senior stakeholders without formal authorityExceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior managementStrong understanding of service delivery, process optimization, and leveraging technology for efficiencyStrategic mindset with experience assessing industry trends and competitive dynamicsDemonstrated experience in managing competing priorities, adapting to change, and navigating uncertaintyIn addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
