Role Overview
The Senior Manager, Market and Performance Insights plays a crucial role in strengthening Brand Equity, driving sustainable growth, and meeting US client expectations by shaping our understanding of the Fragrance and Beauty landscape. This role delivers actionable, data-driven insights on industry trends, competitor activity, distribution shifts, and consumer behaviors identifying both risks and opportunities. Working closely with external data providers and CHANEL cross-functional teams, the Senior Manager ensures insights inform strategic decisions and foster alignment across the division.

By streamlining access to market intelligence and aligning teams around shared KPIs, this role drives clarity, focus, and forward momentum. Market & Competitive Intelligence Ownership
Serve as the daily point of contact for the U.S. Chanel Fragrance & Beauty relationship with market intelligence vendors—managing contracted tools, ad hoc data requests, license administration, training, and ongoing vendor collaboration. (Circana, etc)Own the governance and maintenance of all competitive and market data sources, ensuring data is accurate, well-documented, accessible, and efficiently used across teams.Develop, manage, and maintain robust, structured files and reporting dashboards to monitor Fragrance & Beauty market performance, including category, channel, and brand trends.Research & Insight Development
Conduct and synthesize external research, incorporating economic indicators, industry news, and shifts in consumer and client behavior to identify relevant trends.Produce actionable insights and strategic implications for internal stakeholders, with a focus on distribution dynamics and client preferences.Strategic Reporting & Communication
Lead the monthly and quarterly publishing of key insights and performance takeaways, highlighting our business’s position vs. the overall market.Collaborate with Marketing, Media, Insights, Digital, and Global teams to connect insight to action across planning and execution.Support the Strategy team and cross-functional partners in defining and aligning on measurable market KPIs tied to divisional strategic priorities.Contribute to key planning processes (e.g., Budget Alignment, 3-Year Plan (MTP), Deauville, and Country Reviews) by providing data, insights, and materials that frame the market landscape.Deliver ad hoc market and competitive analyses in response to evolving business questions or leadership needs.Contribute to long-term strategic distribution projects, providing insight and structure to inform account-level and channel-level strategies.You are energized by:

Strong understanding of data structures, governance, and automation; experience collaborating with IT or data engineering teams to improve data pipelines or reporting solutions.Exceptional problem-solving skills, using deductive logic and multiple data sources to navigate ambiguity and answer complex business questions.Track record of developing clear, visually polished presentations and reports for senior leadership; attention to detail and a passion for aesthetics in communication are essential.Demonstrated ability to influence and engage cross-functional partners, including Marketing, Client Insights, Commercial, and Executive teams—both verbally and in writing.Deep curiosity, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset; able to build internal networks to source knowledge and align on insights.Highly self-motivated, organized, and results-driven, with excellent prioritization and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment.A strong blend of analytical, strategic, and creative thinking, with a genuine interest in client behavior, product trends, distribution strategy, and the evolving beauty landscape, including digital and social media dynamics.Position Logistics:
Based in New York City, this role is considered Hybrid: Role requires a minimum of three days in-person office presence at the designated location/office.Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree in business, marketing, analytics, or a related field strongly preferred.5–7 years of professional experience, with a strong analytical foundation; prior experience in the Fragrance and Beauty industry or luxury retail is highly desirable.Proven ability to extract insights and identify patterns from large, complex data sets, and to communicate key findings through compelling data storytelling and visualization.Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in building models, dashboards, and scenario-based analyses; experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) a plus.Compensation:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $87,500 through $135,000. Base salary is one component of the total compensation for this position.
