Senior Risk Managers have a high level of exposure across HR and will work with executives and teams to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risk to the Company.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated risk or process management professional with excellent problem solving, integrative thinking, prioritization and communication skills. Additionally, building win-win partnerships with multiple business stakeholders as well as across HR functional areas, while adapting to and managing change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, are default essentials for this role.
Responsibilities:
Manages the Risk Control Self Assessment (RCSA), Process Level Assessments (PLA), Process Criticality Analysis (PCA), and Human Capital Risk Assessments, including International Country Risk Assessments and Exit Plan workstreams. Leads multiple complex workstreams simultaneously, ensuring strategic alignment and effective stakeholder management across global footprints.
Supports audits of our business partners’ organizations, as applicable
Participates in risk forums and contributes to continuous improvement of risk management practices
Participates in and executes other special projects for the risk office on a periodic basis
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
At least 5 years of risk management experience or at least 5 years of human resource experience
At least 2 years of process or project management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
7+ years of Human Resource experience
5+ years of experience in process or project management
3+ years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with key stakeholders or internal business partners
2+ years of experience influencing senior leadership
Agile or Design Thinking experience
Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance software tools

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $177,700 - $202,800 for Sr. Risk Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
