Senior Manager, Global Category Buyer Management - Fatty Alcohols

Objectives of the Position

Serves as a key leadership role responsible for developing and executing the global procurement strategy for fatty alcohols.The incumbent will drive strategic negotiations, oversee supplier relationship management, advance sustainability initiatives, and promote continuous improvement across the category within a complex, multinational business environment.

 

Responsibilities

Responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous monitoring of the procurement strategy for the global Fatty Alcohols category, ensuring alignment with business objectives and operational excellence.Assume accountability for establishing boundary conditions and developing comprehensive guidelines for the execution and evaluation of bidding processes and negotiations, ensuring consistency and adherence to corporate requirements for Procurement and compliant processes across the global category.Responsible for defining the guidelines for biddings and negotiations (RfX) for the respective category buyers and implementation and monitoring of contracts, also in the system.Responsibility for leading strategic contract negotiations, as well as overseeing and supporting the effective execution of these negotiations within the global category, in collaboration with category buyers.Global responsibility for the implementation of customer and business requirements with respect to quality of the procured raw materialsGlobal responsibility for the sustainability approach for the raw material procurement in the global category in close alignment with the business and customer needs.Definition and monitoring of strategic goals and targets / KPIs for the global category and responsibility for achieving targets / KPI's of the global categorySupplier Relationship Management (SRM) - Responsibility for relation management on the executive level of decision makers within the Suppliers and, ensuring compliance with BASF’s Supplier Code of Conduct and Palm Sourcing PolicyWork closely with various departments, including procurement, logistics, and quality control, to ensure seamless operations and responsible for internal Business Partner Relationship ManagementResponsibility for Single Source Management - minimizing for the global categoryResponsible for the permanent improvement of category aspects / quality/performance and management of category complexityAssume responsibility for overseeing the advancement of the Fatty Alcohol Category’s palm sustainability initiatives. Support category buyers in driving the implementation of sustainability objectives and ensure systematic collection and reporting of Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data from suppliers in alignment with established KPIs.Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks in the fatty alcohol marketReporting, price forecasting and Market Intelligence

 

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 15 years of sourcing experience in Oleochemicals or related industriesSkills: Strong negotiation skills, market analysis capabilities, and supplier relationship managementEducation: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Business, or a related fieldLanguage: Proficiency in English and Mandarin
