This position ensures reporting complies with US GAAP, including revenue and cost deferrals and recognition, and intercompany billing complies with contractual obligations. The Senior Manager will collaborate with the various FBP and Accounting teams within the Continents as well as counterparts within other CFA disciplines to accomplish business objectives, working in a dynamic multi-currency, multi-entity environment. Leads accounting team in support of the assigned Continents ensuring timely and accurate accounting services are provided to internal and external customers. Additionally, this role is responsible for fully leveraging technology and resources to institute and maintain world class processes that balance efficiency with specified service levels. A successful candidate in this role should have the ability to both work independently and in a team setting, and should have strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities. This position will need to build and maintain key relationships, identify issues, recommend solutions, and implement resolutions. This position will be based at MI Corporate Headquarters in Bethesda, MD. CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience Required · Baccalaureate degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline required · 6+ years professional experience in GAAP accounting · Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage multiple priorities · Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communications skills required · Must be an initiative-taker, capable of identifying needs/requirements and taking independent action Preferred · CPA · 3+ years management experience · Peoplesoft software experience · Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite · Knowledge of contracting, construction/design industry, project management, and consulting agreements CORE WORK ACTIVITIES Governance and Global Partnerships: · Responsible for developing and maintaining a business relationship with Continent FBPs and Accounting teams, providing analysis and guidance to help make business decisions. · Provide primary support for all financial issues for the Continent. · Identify financial risks and exposures and follow up with Continent leaders to address outstanding issues and concerns. · Lead team in implementation of company policy, GAAP, and Global Design business changes. Accounting and Analytics: · Responsible for reviewing, issuing, and approving the Continent monthly financial package, including all P&L reports, explanations, variance analysis, and supporting documents. · Review monthly General Ledger and P&L reports, preparing adjusting journal entries as required to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial reports. · Ensure foreign currency transactions are accurately reflected in the financial statements in accordance with GAAP. · Prepare and/or review and approve assigned monthly project related balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and 340 regarding Revenue and Cost Recognition. · Manage tracking of key financial metrics for financial and operational functions, including project counts and FTEs, ensuring accuracy in reporting. Identify and communicate trends and progress against initiatives. · Review contractual agreements to understand revenue and cost recognition requirements, including standard TSA agreements and more complex Residential or MI Owned property agreements. · Initiate new intercompany agreements as required for localized billing arrangements. Review and understand the complexities of all intercompany agreements to prepare quarterly accruals and subsequent billing. · Monitor Mosaic billing rates by associate and consultant to ensure projects are correctly charged. · Implement and manage monitoring of cost saving and revenue enhancement opportunities. · Serve as liaison with respective project accounting personnel and FBPs on project or other financial issues that may impact operating results. · Manage one or more accounting professionals to include: implementing associate goals and priorities, task delegation, and career development. Systems and Special Projects: · Drive process improvement opportunities utilizing consistent tools and processes by using technology and industry best practices. · Ensure team is applying best practices in performing their tasks. · Support system enhancements and upgrades. · Partner with Senior Management in ad-hoc initiatives and projects _Marriott International is an equal opportunity employer.
