Senior Manager, Climate Risk Scenario Analysis

To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com (https://www.cibc.com/en/about-cibc.html) **What you’ll be doing** Global Operational and Enterprise Risk Management (GOERM) is responsible for the oversight of all enterprise-wide operational risks globally and establishes and provides an independent risk perspective and ongoing strategic direction for various enterprise risk functions, while providing overall leadership to risk-wide business management and transformation activities. As the Senior Manager of Climate Risk Scenario Analysis within GOERM, you will be responsible for developing methodologies and analytical tools to quantify financial impacts of catastrophic risks, including physical climate risks, under a variety of climate scenarios and time horizons. You will manage climate scenario and geospatial analytics to meet and exceed OSFI B-15 Climate Risk Management expectations. _At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote._ **How you’ll succeed** + **Analytical thinking** – Translate and interpret abstract or theoretical information with a high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency. Oversee the collection, evaluation and integration of climate scenario data sources, hazard maps, damage functions, and geospatial datasets into robust data pipelines and ensure transparency and documentation of key assumptions. Generate detailed and portfolio-level risk metrics to assess climate-related exposures including supply chain disruptions, policy changes and opportunities. Build interactive geospatial dashboards that translate complex data into actionable insights for business decision-making. Translate qualitative climate data into quantitative financial metrics, such as potential losses, revenue at risk, or impacts on asset valuation, using appropriate tools and models. Assess business resilience by evaluating CIBC’s current strategy and business model under different climate futures and recommend adjustments to enhance long-term viability. + **Communication and collaboration** – Apply your excellent verbal and writing skills to effectively articulate ideas and opinions that involve analysis, interpretation, and assessment to others with different disciplinary backgrounds. Develop internal and external communications to promote CIBC’s environmental initiatives and achievements. Represent CIBC on industry committees and regulatory forums related to climate models and data management. Partner with internal teams to develop and implement climate models and data into existing financial and risk models. + **Leadership skills** - Driven by collective success, understands the power of an inclusive team that enjoys working together to bring a shared vision to life. Apply your expertise in environmental and climate risk + **Reporting –** Support the development of content for internal and external reporting including CIBC’s Sustainability Report and external website. Ensure proper documentation, validation, and governance of models in alignment with data and model risk management standards. **Who you are** + **You can demonstrate 5-7 years of experience,** in environmental risk or climate science with a working knowledge of industry-wide environmental policies, practices and regulatory frameworks. You have a background in quantitative fields such as statistics, data science, engineering, mathematics, financial engineering or climate science and expertise in climate and geospatial risk analytics. You are proficient in Python/R and QGIS/ArcGIS and have experience in risk assessment, scenario analysis and vulnerability analysis related to climate risks. + **You have a degree/diploma in** preferably Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics or related field. + **You know details matter** .
