Job Description

 

AbbVie are seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team in Carraigtwohill, Cork. The Senior Maintenance Engineer reports to the Engineering Operations Manager. In this role, you will provide technical expertise for day-to-day production issues, with a focus on reliability engineering, asset management, continuous improvement, and energy/sustainability initiatives.  You will also support manufacturing projects and help keep the site compliant, efficient, and audit-ready.

Key responsibilities

Act as technical expert / SME on reliability engineeringSupport day-to-day production issues and manufacturing projectsTroubleshoot technical issues and identify effective solutionsLead/support projects, training, and cross-trainingDrive process improvements and Kaizen activitiesPartner with EHS to ensure site safetyManage Engineering Change ControlSet and maintain reliability standards across equipment, processes, systems, and utilitiesLead/participate in RCAs and ensure corrective actions prevent recurrenceDevelop technical improvement business cases using DMAIC or similar methodsImprove maintenance systems and identify improvement opportunitiesSupport energy management, sustainability, and asset lifecycle programsEnsure the MEP program is QA/EHSE compliant and audit ready
Qualifications
Degree (Level 8) in Mechanical or Chemical/Process Engineering or related discipline5+ years’ experience in a Maintenance Engineering role in an FDA or HPRA regulated environmentExperience in a sterile fill facilityStrong knowledge of cGMP and pharmaceutical regulatory requirementsExcellent communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder management skillsFluent EnglishProficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
