Job Description

This position, in the Global Law Department – Eastern Europe & Middle East region, has become available for applications.

 

Role Overview

The Senior Legal Counsel will provide legal support to Continental legal entities in Hungary and in the Eastern Europe & Middle East region and support strategic legal initiatives. This role involves providing efficient, reliable, coordinated and innovative legal solutions that enable the management and employees of Continental to achieve the goals of the corporation that minimize the risks and maximize the opportunities of the corporation, while serving as a key liaison between internal stakeholders and external law firms in Eastern Europe & Middle East region.

Consultancy

Provide legal advice on national and international matters to internal clients in Eastern Europe & Middle East regionIdentify and analyze legal risks; offer support for development and implementation of solutions for risk avoidance or its limitationOffer support in communicating and negotiating with external parties in complex/high stake mattersIndependently lead or coordinate complex projects in multiple legal areas with multiple stakeholdersConsistently monitor changes in legislation

Contracts

Draft and review contracts of all kinds and other legal documentsOffer support in negation of high complexity/high stake contractsIndependently draft and update contract templates in all legal areasUse available Contract Management and Matter Management tools

Training

Conduct workshops & training for assigned internal clientsCoach junior legal colleagues in their technical as well as organizational skills

Claims

Assist and support internal clients in claim management, both in and out of court, both as claimant and as defendant

Communication, cooperation and coordination

Communicate and negotiate with external parties (customers, suppliers, public authorities etc.)Cooperate with other central functions and departments within ContinentalCoordinate external law firms

Reporting

Regularly record and track all legal matters in applicable IT system(s) and provide an overview when required

QualificationsUniversity degree from Law SchoolFull professional proficiency in Hungarian lawAdditional certification in law (e.g. bar exams) is a plusMinimum 5 years of experience in lawWorking experience abroad or in multinational company, or study abroad is a plusVery good knowledge of commercial law (including international commercial law and antitrust law), civil law, corporate law and labor lawAbility to draft and review contractsHungarian language – native or bilingual proficiencyWritten and spoken legal English – full professional proficiencyAbility to work independently and to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneouslyStrong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skillsConfident handling of MS OfficeBasic knowledge of Contract Management and Matter Management toolsHigh level of integrity and professional ethics
