Overview

An international bank is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to support its growing operations across emerging markets, with a primary focus on front office banking activities.

This role will act as a key legal partner to business teams, advising on complex transactions while ensuring strong legal risk management across lending, trade finance and broader banking operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

Provide legal support on trade finance and lending transactions, including bilateral and syndicated deals. Draft, review and negotiate facility agreements, term sheets and security documentation. Advise business teams on legal and regulatory risks associated with transactions. Manage legal aspects of security creation, perfection and enforcement. Support wider legal matters including commercial contracts, governance and regulatory advisory. Collaborate with internal stakeholders across business, risk and compliance functions. Liaise with external counsel where required. Contribute to the development of legal frameworks, templates and internal processes. Provide training and guidance to internal teams on relevant legal topics.

 

Requirements

Qualified lawyer (Ghana) with 8+ years’ post-qualification experience. Strong experience in banking and finance law, particularly trade finance. Experience gained in top-tier law firm and/or in-house financial institution. Strong commercial awareness with the ability to support deal execution. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
