Senior Leader Operational Excellence will lead and drive continuous improvement (CI) and automation across the Industrial Products Group in partnership with each operating company. This strategic role will involve taking the Industrial Products Group’s continuous improvement and automation efforts to the next level, by implementing, and refining a comprehensive strategy that maximizes operational efficiencies, enhances productivity, and fosters a culture of excellence. This individual will be an experienced senior level leader with significant LEAN experience that will drive and accelerate operational excellence at the Group level. By working closely with cross-functional leaders and frontline employees, this individual will identify and prioritize high-impact projects, implement performance measurement systems, and mentor team members in continuous improvement methodologies and automation technologies. As part of the Marmon Strategy & Continuous Improvement community, this individual will support our Industrial Products businesses with refreshed 80/20 Business Acumen training and tools, including enabling company action plans that will be an integrated part of business reviews.

Frequent travel to various facilities is required to engage directly with business leaders and frontline teams, understand operational needs, and ensure that CI initiatives and Automation investments are rooted in practical, actionable insights. In addition, this role is responsible for building skills, capabilities and tools/templates needed to improve processes and operational efficiency on an ongoing basis in strong partnership with the Group and Operating Company Leadership, Operation and HR communities.  This position is a member of the Industrial Products Group leadership team, reporting to the Group President and will be a member of the Marmon LEAN Council team.  Remote location with expectation of travel to all Industrial Products Group operating company facilities as needed, and on a regular basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Analyze existing business processes using various methods to understand how to drive change across the organization. This will allow the businesses to find opportunities for improvement, troubleshooting to determine root causes.  Ensure robust performance management processes, measures, and reporting.   Enable company leadership teams in establishing & effectively implementing Marmon’s CI Transformation. Get the best results by coaching/consulting across each company to make LEAN continuous improvement an integral part of the business and organization culture.In partnership with Marmon Continuous Improvement & LEAN Council team, support education and development programs which serves to enhance the skills, competencies, and effectiveness of the LEAN practitioners, leadership, and the stakeholder community to continuously improve and sustain a competitive advantage.Understand 80/20 Quad and Quartile management.  Work with group and company leadership to incorporate continuous improvement through LEAN tools utilizing Marmon’s tool kit.  Encourage/support companies to develop policies, practices, and priorities that produce significant and impactful results for the business.Oversee the integration of automation technologies, including robotics, AI, and IoT, into existing manufacturing processes.Coordinate and lead key projects for improvement across all levels of the organization.  Provide leadership across each of the companies to work with teams directly or collaborate with managers to re-engineer processes.Develop a direct relationship with Marmon’s Innovation team to educate Industrial Products Group team members on Innovation resources, as well as ensure that appropriate such resources are available and utilized as appropriate. Develop relationships with and foster the appropriate utilization of key LEAN and automation partnerships.Work with the business managers to establish measurable standards at the start of a project and then compare actual project results against these, regularly generating detailed update reports for management.Work with leadership and local HR teams to support change management training that sets a culture to sustain the continuous improvement mentality and usage of LEAN tools.Review large capital expenditure requests to ensure the appropriate process improvement considerations are included, including leverage the appropriate innovation resources for process automation.

Qualifications and Competencies

Firm understanding of process improvement techniques and experience applying these to make organizational changesSpearhead both the planning and implementation stages of multiple projects, with the proper level of organization and commitment to meeting deadlinesAbility to coach and be a game-changer, inspiring our businesses to give their best continuous improvement effort and setting the vision/direction for many initiativesExperience with leading change management programsEvaluate processes and projects, synthesize insights to arrive at a summary of overall organizational statusProven communication skills to host presentations, facilitate meetings/trainings, create reportsSolid knowledge and demonstrated understanding of Toyota Production System (TPS) and methodologies such as: Strategy Deployment, Process Flow Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, 5s/Visual Management, Standard Work, Process Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis, Quality at the source, Just in Time, Kaizen/Continuous Improvement, Abnormality Management, Project Management, Business Process Capacity planning/development, and LEAN ROI.  Extensive Gemba based Continuous Improvement tools/techniques.Knowledge of 80/20 (Pareto Principle) quads and quartiles requiredMicrosoft Suite (including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)

Specific qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related area; Master’s degree preferred.Minimum of 10 years’ leadership experience working with a company’s management team on continuous improvement, automation, and business processes, with a minimum of 5 years in a people leadership role.  Strong negotiation and conflict management skills.In-depth knowledge of analyzing a company’s data and competitive advantageProject management skills. Strong financial acumen with consultative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with multiple decentralized business leaders to reach consensus and deliver results.Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.  

Pay Range:

140,000.00 - 210,000.00
