Senior Lead User Experience Designer

ADP is hiring a Senior Lead User Experience Designer.

ADP is building the future of HCM for small businesses. Central to the product is native AI-integrated, next-generation user experience. We’re seeking a Senior Lead UX Designer to help drive the evolution of the product—working closely with Product, UXR, and Engineering. You will synthesize user research findings, refine current design, and where gaps emerge, lead rapid end-to-end UX testing: from concepting, navigation, flow, and visual design, through validation.

You will invent and evolve GenAI, LLM, and ML-powered user experiences, creating intelligent, agentic, and automated interactions that solve real problems for business owners. This goes beyond chat—your work will define usable interfaces for a new class of AI-enabled tools, satisfying both the material and psychological needs of SMB HCM users.

You’ll join a growing multidisciplinary team, setting new standards for UX quality and systems thinking that reflect the needs of today's and tomorrow’s SMB HCM market. You’ll collaborate daily with product, research, engineering, and non-technical stakeholders while sharing knowledge, mentoring, and modeling high-integrity design leadership.

What you’ll do:

Contribute to all phases of design work—full-stack, from ideation to launch. • Lead the evolution of AI-native workflows and agentic capabilities, shaping intelligent automation and next-gen user interactions. Invent, prototype, and validate desirable new workflows powered by emerging technologies while meeting the emotional needs of SMB users. Deliver high-integrity design artifacts: system flows, architectures, concept mocks, interactive/animated prototypes, and go-to-market materials. Coordinate validation with Product and UXR. Influence product and engineering priorities with clear design evidence, balancing ideal and feasible solutions. Present key work and design rationale to business stakeholders, supporting evidence-driven decisions. Actively partner with UXR to translate user research and market signal into design iterations. Mentor and collaborate with other designers—share critique, elevate quality, and foster shared ownership. Adapt across changing priorities, rapid iterations, technical constraints, and shifting organizational needs. Demonstrate proof-first design process, using real user/market signals to refine and evolve solutions. Lead by example, showcasing design and communication best practices, with a body of work that proves the value of human-centered design methodologies.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required; advanced degree in relevant fields welcome. 8+ years of progressively responsible UX design experience. You have successfully, productively integrated GenAI / LLM tooling into your professional workflows and are on top of the latest developments with this technology. Direct experience with complex, compliance-heavy technical products/platforms. Experience designing for compliance and audit in highly regulated spaces preferred. Significant work designing AI/ML-powered software features, including ideally GenAI and LLM-infused or agentic systems, hybrid workflows, and novel AI experiences. A portfolio demonstrating creative solutions for next-generation interaction models and user journeys using emerging technologies. Skilled across various methods and tools practiced in fast-moving, lean product organizations, spanning the full SDLC. Demonstrated mentorship and collaboration with junior designers to lift both team quality and outcomes. Strong, direct communication with cross-functional product, engineering, UX research, and non-technical stakeholders. Able to thrive in ambiguous, rapidly changing, multistakeholder environments. Bonus for experience launching products in highly regulated domains e.g. payroll, tax, HR, fintech, healthcare, where compliance, auditability, and risk management were key success factors.
