The Industry Relations team is seeking a Senior Lead, Partnerships to shape sustainability partnerships and communications with academics, universities, and research institutions. The role will serve as the partnership lead for priority research centers working across Amazon and external institutions to ensure positive and effective partnerships. This role will be part of a team of external third-party relationship managers including academics, analysts, and NGOs. This lead will partner with the Sustainability Science and Innovation team to execute the Academic Research Program which was created to accelerate Amazon’s progress toward The Climate Pledge and increase Amazon’s scientific credibility through strategic
research and engagements. This lead will also work with Communications and Public Policy teams to share partnership wins and research breakthroughs with external audiences.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in managing academic partnerships at a corporation or corporate partnerships at an academic institution, stakeholder management across diverse teams, and/or sustainability program or project management.
The role requires attention to detail, a collaborative working style, and ability to navigate complex organizational structures both within Amazon and at external institutions. The ideal candidate gets energy from connecting with people, is motivated to develop long-term positive relationships at all levels, and is easily able to uncover opportunities for collaboration.
Key job responsibilities
- Influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to accelerate delivery of Amazon’s 2040 net-zero carbon commitment
- Lead relationships with priority research centers to ensure positive and effective partnerships
- Proactively look to increase external engagements beyond research, including advisory, publications, and speaking engagements
- Partner with marketing and communications teams to externalize partnership wins through impactful storytelling
- Partner with Public Policy to share research breakthroughs and resources with external audiences
- Evaluate risks and secure necessary internal approvals for partnerships and research collaborations
- Ensure visibility and progress of ongoing work is reported and communicated across teams
