Duties Description Working for the Division of Operations, Bureau of Maintenance & Technical Services, duties include but are not limited to:•Develop, design, repair, install, operate, and/or maintain SCADA, power metering and other monitoring & control systems related to building operations, energy & indoor environmental quality monitoring & logging. •Work closely with Department engineers and technical staff to determine need, develop solutions and implement electronic systems in support of the Department’s energy management and decarbonization program. •Work with outside vendors and contractors on the design, implementation and commissioning of various electronic systems including Building Management Systems (BMS), fire alarm & detection, security, CCTV, renewable & building energy metering and other similar technologies. Includes implementation of broadband connectivity for remote system monitoring & control. •Help develop, bid out and award 5-year Service Contracts for our facilities supported by BMS, fire alarm & detection, and security system.•Respond to technical requests (TSR’s) across the State for troubleshooting and repair of the various control and monitoring systems. •Ensure projects are kept on schedule and within budget allocations. If schedule or budget requirements change provide updates to department management for guidance.•Ensure quality of work is maintained to a high standard and lab facility is kept organized and in optimized working condition.•Perform the more complex design, construction, operation, and repair of laboratory and field devices and equipment where commercially available systems are not available. •Evaluate, repair, modify, design, fabricate, operate, and maintain various electromechanical laboratory and devices and equipment.•Correct manufacturing design deficiencies through appropriate modifications; develop, test, demonstrate and prepare written instructions regarding the proper operation of various laboratory and field equipment.•Obtain replacement parts, supplies and service from vendors or manufacturers. •Research new technology to improve or replace existing system with off the shelf solutions. •Supervise subordinate Laboratory Equipment Designers and/or lower-level staff assigned to perform various tasks in the design, construction, installation, operation, and repair of laboratory or field equipment. Responsible for overseeing emergency service requests.•Responsible for overseeing work done by outside electromechanical laboratory devices and equipment vendors.
Minimum Qualifications High School diploma and six years of experience in the construction, design, operation, and repair of special machines, tools, and/or equipment fabricated for laboratory use; or Bachelor s Degree with specialization in machine design and two years of experience in the construction, design, operation, and repair of special machines, tools, and/or equipment fabricated for laboratory use.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.Must be able to work in remote areas.Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required.Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required.Weekends and holidays may be required.
