**Senior Java Developer**
**About the role**
As a Senior Java Developer, you will make an impact by designing and developing secure Java applications in regulated environments such as finance or hospitality. You will be a valued member of the development team and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including DevOps, QA, Security, and Compliance.

**In this role, you will:**
· Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, secure, and scalable Java applications.
· Implement industry-standard encryption techniques to protect sensitive data both in transit and at rest.
· Ensure software meets regulatory and compliance standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR, SOX).
· Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements, especially within hospitality or financial services domains.
· Conduct code reviews, provide mentorship, and lead best practices in secure software development.
· Integrate third-party APIs and legacy systems with robust security protocols.
· Participate in architecture design and technical decision-making processes.
· Maintain comprehensive documentation for systems and codebases, including encryption schemes and compliance procedures.
· Continuously monitor and improve the security posture of existing applications.
· Work cross-functionally with DevOps, QA, Security, and Compliance teams.
**What you must have to be considered**
· 10+ years of hands-on experience in software development with a focus on Java/J2EE.
· Strong expertise in cryptographic libraries, secure coding practices, key management, and encryption algorithms (AES, RSA, TLS/SSL, etc.).
· Proven experience working in regulated environments, preferably in hospitality or finance (e.g., PCI compliance, anti-fraud systems, data privacy regulations).
· Experience developing secure applications for cloud and/or hybrid environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
· Solid understanding of system architecture, object-oriented design patterns, and microservices.
· Familiarity with database systems (SQL, NoSQL) and data security best practices.
· Experience with CI/CD, version control (Git), and agile methodologies.
· Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
**Preferred Qualifications**
· Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
· Previous experience in roles such as Technical Lead, Security Architect, or Principal Engineer.
· Familiarity with hospitality systems (e.g., PMS, POS, booking engines) or financial products (e.g., payment gateways, accounting).
· Experience with regulatory audit processes.
· Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or Java Security-related credentials.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Proven leadership in cross-functional technical teams.
· Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to software security.
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, regulated, customer-focused environment.
**Salary and Other Compensation:**
The annual salary for this position is between $112,500 to $132,000 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
