**A Day in the Life**
Medtronic is hiring a Senior Cloud Operations Engineer. As a Senior Cloud Operations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing cloud infrastructure that powers critical applications and services. This role ensures the scalability, reliability, and security of cloud-based environments, working closely with development, DevOps, and security teams to manage infrastructure, monitor performance, and troubleshoot any issues. The Senior Cloud Operations Engineer will be responsible for automating deployment processes, optimizing cloud resources, and ensuring smooth operation of all cloud-based systems in a rapidly growing and dynamic environment.
This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. This separation provides our team with a bold opportunity to unleash our potential, enabling us to operate with greater speed and agility. As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.
**Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:**
+ Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to ensure optimal performance, availability, and scalability.
+ Monitor and troubleshoot cloud-based applications and services to ensure high uptime and performance.
+ Collaborate with development teams to support continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and ensure smooth releases.
+ Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions, using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
+ Automate operational tasks such as backups, monitoring, patching, and scaling to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
+ Ensure security best practices are followed, including vulnerability management, encryption, and access control.
+ Perform incident response and root cause analysis for any cloud-related incidents.
+ Optimize cloud resource utilization and costs through proactive monitoring and adjustments.
+ Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and disaster recovery plans.
**Required Knowledge and Experience:**
+ In-depth understanding of cloud infrastructure components, including networking, storage, compute, and security.
+ Strong experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
+ Familiarity with serverless architectures and microservices design.
+ Excellent scripting and automation skills (Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, etc.).
+ Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Datadog).
+ Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git, Jenkins).
+ Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on troubleshooting and optimization.
+ Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
**Must Have Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
+ 5+ years of experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
+ Proficiency with automation and scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, etc.).
+ Experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools.
+ Proven experience in monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of cloud environments.
+ Familiarity with cloud security best practices.
**Nice to Have Qualifications**
+ Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, or Azure Administrator Associate.
+ Experience with multi-cloud environments.
+ Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
+ Experience with serverless architectures (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
+ Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) frameworks such as ITIL.
+ Experience with agile development methodologies.
