THE SENIOR IT SPECIALIST OPPOURTUNITY
Canadian Turner Construction Company’s Vancouver office is seeking a full-time Senior IT Specialist for our Information Services & Support team. The role requires availability to work on-site or in the head office from Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, and reports to the Services & Support Manager or the Services & Support Regional Manager. In this role, you will serve as the technical lead, providing primary system support to end-users for voice, data, applications, commercial software, workstation configuration, and problem resolution.
As a Senior IT Specialist, you will:
Technical lead providing Tier I and Tier II voice, remote, and onsite desktop support for system end-users, and confer with appropriate Information Services (IS) technical or systems team member as needed. Contribute to development of IS policies, procedures, security, and standards relating to infrastructure systems, components, applications, and services.Participate in IS technology projects and contribute expertise to supply innovation and improvements and conduct validation testing.Evaluate hardware, software, and system functional specifications and requirements for local operations and end-users to propose and deliver solutions.Collaborate with Procurement team to review vendor contracts and MSAs (Master Service Level Agreements) to determine equipment suppliers and service providers capacity and services, determine cost and gain approval of spend, procure vendor commitments, and ensure delivery locally to end-users.Partner with Finance team to ensure appropriate allocation of vendor invoices.Lead project manage lifecycle activities of IS technology deployed locally, job site, or at enterprise locations.Analyze and provide solutions for technical problems with Local Area Networks(LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and other systems locally.Oversee daily system backup performance of local server and other mission critical local infrastructure.Oversee analysis and recorded documentation of local technology infrastructure.Manage recovery activities from disaster or failure of equipment identified during daily system backups of local server and other mission critical local infrastructure. Collaborate with IS resources and service providers as needed to confirm complete recovery.Educate stakeholders to support adoption of IS Technology Services policy and procedures, security, and standards relating to infrastructure systems, components, standard software tool, applications, and services.Manage and control hardware and software equipment inventory.Manage and deliverlarge scale projects following IS methodology for change management, scope, schedule, and budget.Provide status updates related to technology during IS management meetings.Leverage continuous improvement concepts and practices to work efficiently, enhance programs, and to coordinate and reduce waste.May manage team of IS professionals, provide direction of work and delegate assignments, and serve as point of escalation for direct reports. Deliver timely performance feedback for team and/or direct reports and contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycle, utilize talent management systems, and identify appropriate training to help with development needs.Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.Is this the right role for you:
Minimum of 5 years of related experience required, and in pursuit of or with Bachelor’s Degree from accredited degree program in Information Services, Computer Science, Operations, Management, or related field of study, or with current Information Technology (IT) certifications such as A+, Network+, or MCP, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and trainingTicket management system experienceExtensive knowledge of PC and peripheral supportExtensive desktop and systems support and troubleshooting knowledge and experienceMultiple vendor desktop and laptop support experienceExperience implementing information technology products and servicesExperience applying continuous improvement principles and conceptsProcess and critical thinking skills with sound judgement and decision-makingSelf-starter with project management skills and capable of managing multiple tasks successfully to completionInterpersonal skills to engage professionally with individuals across organizational levels, internally and externallyAbility to maintain confidential information and address, discuss, and explain complex technical concepts to others with varying levels of technology knowledgeAdvanced knowledge of Windows Server Administration and Active Directory Advanced knowledge of client server operations, security, networking topology, business recovery and their interrelationshipsExperience with installation and deployment of Windows 10 and 11 operating systemsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 2016, Office 365, SharePoint, OneDrive, two-factor authentication, data migrations, and Mobile Device Management applicationsAdvanced knowledge of telephone equipment, VOIP, LAN/WAN, peripheral network devices, and cellular phone operating systemsExperience supporting multi-function printers and scannersFamiliar with Microsoft System Center Configuration ManagerSupervisory experience desiredTravel and access to reliable transportation requiredAt Turner, we appreciate the strength that every member brings. Noise levels on-site can range from moderate to loud. The employee is expected to comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
