We are currently seeking a **Senior IT Security Engineer** to join our team in Canada. **Project Summary:** The scope is to provide expert support to the Individual Partnerships and Payment Solutions (IPPS) team. The objective is to provide expert advice, and active hands-on support in the migration of the Canadian Benefit for Parents of Young Victims of Crime (PYVC), Apprenticeship Grants (AG) and Coal Workforce Transition Program (CWTP) originating from the legacy system (CSGC) migration to the new Individual Grants and Contributions System (IGCS). The role will focus on identifying design and implementation activities specifically supporting technical design, deployment, configuration, system integration, implementation, and infrastructure testing including integrated load, stress, performance, and scalability. **Mandatory Qualifications:** + 5-10+ years of recent experience working as an IT Security Engineer or similar. + 5+ years of experience with Security protocols and tools such as IPSec, SSL, SSH, IPv6, IDS/IPS, firewalls, DNS/NTP. + 3+ experience with Security Assessment & Authorization (SA&A) processes, such as SAQ, SoSAR, PIA, BIA, RBAC, and ATO documentation. + 3+ years experience preparing security documentation and conducting audits/IV&V, including technical reports, implementation plans, and SOPs/ConOps. + 2+ years of expertise with Azure DevOps (ADO) for reporting, tracking, and team collaboration. + Must hold a valid Reliability Security Clearance and have experience working with the Federal Government. + Must have a Canadian university degree or college/CEGEP diploma related to computer science, business administration, information technology, engineering or the equivalent as established by a recognized Canadian academic credentials assessment service. A copy of the degree or diploma must be provided upon request. **Tasks & Responsibilities:** + **Security Policy Compliance:** Review, analyze, and apply security policies, standards, and frameworks relevant to IT security. + **Directory Standards:** Ensure compliance with directory standards such as X.400, X.500, and SMTP. + **Operating Systems Security:** Maintain and secure operating systems, including Windows, Unix, Linux, and Novell. + **Networking Protocols:** Evaluate and secure networking protocols, including HTTP, FTP, and Telnet. + **Secure Architecture:** Implement secure IT architecture fundamentals, standards, communication methods, and security protocols such as IPSec, IPv6, SSL, and SSH. + **Protocol Assessment:** Assess and recommend IT security protocols for all layers of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model and Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) stacks. + **DNS and NTP Management:** Manage Domain Name Services (DNS) and Network Time Protocol (NTP) configurations and security. + **Network Device Security:** Configure and secure network routers, multiplexers, and switches. + **Hardening Techniques:** Apply application, host, and network hardening techniques, including shell scripting, service identification, and access control. + **Intrusion Prevention:** Implement and manage intrusion detection/prevention systems, malware defense mechanisms, file integrity monitoring, enterprise security management, and firewalls. + **Wireless Security:** Assess and secure wireless technology in compliance with security standards. + **Cryptography:** Evaluate and apply cryptographic algorithms for data protection. + **Threat Identification:** Identify and analyze technical threats and vulnerabilities within networks. + **Security Configuration Management:** Manage IT security configurations and ensure compliance with internal and external standards. + **Tool Evaluation:** Analyze and evaluate IT security tools and techniques for effectiveness. + **Data Analysis:** Gather, analyze, and interpret security data to provide advisories and actionable reports. + **Reporting:** Prepare technical reports, including security solutions option analysis and implementation plans using Azure DevOps (ADO). + **IV&V Support:** Provide Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) support for projects, including conducting audits and providing necessary documentation. + **Contingency Plan Review:** Review and assess contingency plans, business continuity plans, and disaster response plans. + **Testing and Exercises:** Design, develop, and conduct tests and exercises for IT security protocols. + **Project Oversight:** Oversee security-related projects and ensure alignment with organizational goals. + **Training Development:** Develop and deliver relevant training materials for team members and stakeholders. + **Knowledge Transfer:** Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and provide coaching to enhance the skills of team members. + **Continuous Improvement:** Stay updated with the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, and technologies to continuously improve security posture.
